Since Cid had spoken with and approved Auron (or rather, gained approval from Hilda), it was now time for the guardian to meet his new charge. Cid would have preferred to leave this to Artania. But one look from his wife told him all he needed to know. As Eiko's father, it was Cid's job to introduce her to Auron.
So he found himself escorting Auron to Eiko's room. And apologising for her before they'd even arrived. "She can be a rumbustious child. But you're a big fellow; I'm sure you can handle her."
Cid hoped so. He just didn't have the time he would like to devote to Eiko.
As he opened the door, he added, "Tell her you were a summoner's guardian, and you'll have her attention at once, I promise you. Teaching her about her heritage is the one thing we find difficult to do, unfortunately... Your experience should be a great help!"
He gestured for Auron to enter first before stepping inside himself. "Eiko, my dear. Meet your new guardian, Auron."
And yes, Cid did intend to get out of there as fast as possible. It was important that Auron and Eiko bonded quickly, after all.
