Luneth almost choked on his celery when he saw the pretty girl in the yellow dress. She seemed really familiar, too. He thought about it, and remembered she was the one who thought Arc was cute; she told Luneth about it when he borrowed Rydia's device to try and call others. This was his chance to finally meet her.
He began to walk toward her, but slowed down as he tried to remember her name. Something like... Selfer or Sadie or something. Come on, think! he tried to force his memory as he neared her.
As he studied her dress, she looked like she had cut it right from the draperies around the ballroom. It was that elegant to him, but he was no fashionista; anything bright and draping sort of made him oggle. Oggle innocently.
Her astuteness caught him off-guard. He blushed a little and rubbed his head in embarrassment. Even closer, he noticed the makeup on her face. It wasn't excessive and it made her look even prettier than her tiny pictures over Mooglenet showed her. Those really did no justice...
"Yeah, it's me," he told her, and then, feeling sort of silly, "Hehe. How are you? Did you see Arc yet?"
He looked around quickly, too. He hadn't seen Arc since a few days before when they were at the festival. Ingus had gone off with Mjrn, so he'd been split from them for a while.
"I thought you looked really pretty to-night! Yellow really suits you."
Selphie's pointing out his blush made him blush harder. While she seemed really cute and perky, the overall beauty mixed with her topsy really threw Luneth for a loop.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure he'll be here. I think he knows you're here - there's no way he'd miss it."
She was right; that yellow was rather sunny, and seemed to make her green eyes brighten even more. When the number changed, he didn't expect Selphie to ask him to dance. He only knew his old hometown's festival jigs, and didn't want to disappoint her. So, instead, he figured - fake it till you make it. He accepted her hand and pulled her onto the dance floor. He seemed to remember a Surface World dance that a cute pub dancer showed him.
He placed one hand on her hip and the other under her hand. He hoped she'd be okay with him touching her. He pretended like he wasn't abashed.
Luneth didn't think he'd be able to manage, but Selphie was very light, and seemingly graceful. He didn't mind that she liked Arc - in fact, he hoped she would talk about him more so that Luneth could tell Arc all about it and watch him blush.
"Hehe, Gaia's been good so far. A moogle thought I killed someone... but other than that, people have been friendly."
He thought he saw Arc nearby, finally, so she'd have a chance at last. But he'd been wanting to ask everyone he met...
"Are you from this world, Sephie?"
It was a kind of bad question to ask your dance partner, but she seemed kind and considerate.
"No way!" Luneth protested, almost messing up the pleasant dance with defiance, "I would never kill anyone!"
When he heard how long she'd been here, he was shocked. He got a little sad for a moment; he wanted to go back home. Selphie seem so okay with it because she had been forced to be in this strange world. But Luneth had barely been here for a few weeks. He couldn't imagine him turning out like here: enjoying the fact they'd been pulled here for some reason. He had to hand it to Selphie. She had some strength inside.
"Hehe, you must have tons of friends, then! Show them all to me one day, okay?"
[ooc; Luneth's plot has him going early. So I'm gonna god-mode the end of that waltz. ♥]
The waltz slowly came to its crescendo and long ending. When the conductor swiped his hand around into an O shape, the band silenced, and the sideliners applauded the beautiful song that Luneth only thought to be strictly Gaian. He noticed a few gentlemen beside him, and mimicked them; he held Selphie's hand high and bowed to her.
He rubbed the back of his head. He felt regal-like, but he knew that he was not royalty. His humble beginnings had left only imagination the entertainment of the children and adults alike. This was more like something from their make-believe than reality.
"I hope I can see you again soon, Sephie!"
He dashed off, leaving the pretty princess-like girl.
Having found his way into the castle without having to undergo checks, which involved climbing a long way up and breaking in through a tower window, and ghosting his way back down to the ballroom. He'd almost gotten caught at one point but he managed to make his way in without being checked or caught
( ... )
His eyes widened for a split second as he realised who he was talking to, and a suave smile flashed onto his face. "Selphie. A pleasure to finally meet you in person. May I say, you look truly magnificent, this evening."
He really was glad to see her. He'd hoped they'd meet at some point, after their meeting and moments over the network. "Are you here alone?" After all, he hadn't seen that cocky cowboy skulking around. Yet.

He almost got it right.
