Characters: Rosa and Cecil Progress: Summary: The two lovebirds finally reunite... and a bit of explaining is needed Location: Alexandria Date: early May Warnings: FLUFF
It hadn't really been that long since they'd seen each other, though it felt like ages to Rosa. She'd been in this world for quite a while by now, but just the assurance of seeing Cecil had calmed her down a bit. Now that she was faced with seeing him again, she felt a fluttering in her heart, a sensation that was quickly squashed by the feeling of his arms sliding around her as hers wrapped around him.
Holding him like this was unexpected, but no less welcome than the simple sight of him. Last she'd seen him, Cecil hadn't been quite this welcoming of touch. However, the White Mage wasn't going to question things, at least not-
Her thoughts were effectively cut off with a slight squeak as she was suddenly lifted off her feet. Eyes shining and a smile lighting up her face, she held on until she was back on her feet again and could hold herself up.
"It hasn't been that long since we saw each other, has it?" she asked teasingly, as she looked up into his eyes. He did seem a little different, now that she stopped to think about it, more relaxed. She liked it, though. It was good for him.
If Rosa had been surprised earlier, it was nothing to how she felt at Cecil's next words. What on earth was he talking about?
She blinked up at him in response before tilting her head slightly to peer up at him. "Do you mean the ceremony you had to undergo during your travels recently?"
It took a while for those words to register. Rosa had spoken about the time differences when she'd met with Kain, but she hadn't gotten every last detail from him. Perhaps he didn't know this part or perhaps he hadn't wanted to say. Regardless, it was a bit of a shock for Rosa and a variety of emotions crossed her eyes as she stood there.
Eventually, her expression landed on happy wonderment and she threw her arms around his waist, holding him as close as she could. "For so long, I'd hoped you would be able to come to terms with everything that's happened."
And she'd hoped she would be at his side when he did. This revelation was still shocking... but she'd be the last person to ever say it was unwanted.
In all honesty, it was strange to think of herself as being wed to Cecil, but it wasn't a thought Rosa didn't like. Perhaps it was in her future and Cecil's past, but the fact was that it had happened for at least one of them. That made it real enough for her.
To see him so happy and carefree made her heart soar. Her breath caught a little as she felt his lips against hers and after a moment, her eyes slid closed and she returned the touch, holding him close to her.
"I missed you, too." She really had.
Eventually, she turned her head so she could rest it against his chest, breathing in the scent of him and just clinging to him. "I hope things haven't been too dangerous while you were gone." She didn't know everything that had happened while he'd been on that mission, but he'd returned uninjured, so that was something to be thankful for at least.
