Aside from the first memory he'd experienced, Memoria had not been too unkind to Cecil yet. But with each hour that passed and the exit coming no closer to being discovered, he was troubled. Rosa had contacted him to say she couldn't reach Ceodore, and though he'd been quick to reassure her, there was still worry at the back of his mind for what Ceodore might be going through. And so soon after his and Ursula's ordeals in the mines, as well...

As they found themselves in the Old Chaos Shrine, Cecil looked around again, recognition flitting across his face at the familiar surroundings. Yet if he held any significant memories here from all those years ago, he had yet to recall them, so he was just as ignorant as Terra as to whose past they'd experience here.

"We'd best steel ourselves for more memories," he said, from behind her. "As long as we keep pressing forwards, we'll make it through."

Another place Basch did not recognize. Though the looks on both Terra's and Cecil's faces seem to mimic what he should feel. They didn't look too happy here.

"What is left for them to show us?" But Cecil was right. They needed to press forward, to keep their mind on the goal.

Basch's question was answered a moment later as Terra stepped forward. Suddenly, the Onion Knight was with her, though a few paces away.

Terra glanced around warily. "It's here. Something powerful is close by."

The Onion Knight frowned in thought as he peered around as well. "I don't see anything unusual. Let me go take a look around and--"

His sentence was interrupted by a whimper--Terra's. He turned to his companion, alarmed. "Terra?"

Terra didn't reply to him, her eyes closed tight as she clutched her head with one hand. The other drew into a tight fist and her whole frame trembled. A blue glow began to emanate from her, and she shook her head, her voice high and panicked. "What is...this voice...in my head!?

"No! What is this... Aaagh!"

The Onion Knight started forward at that last shriek, obviously out of his depth and having no idea what to do. "Terra! What's going on!?"

"Terra!" Cecil echoed the smaller knight, starting forward as an instinctive reaction. But of course, like on the other occasions, she was deaf and blind to anyone not belonging to the memory.

Deeply uncomfortable at what he was seeing, he stepped back to Basch's side, just wishing there was something he could do to stop the memory.

Immediately, Basch's hand went to his sword. There was definitely something wrong.

He nearly went forward when Cecil did, but it seemed as if this was yet again, another memory. What was to happen to them this time? It was obvious that they clearly hadn't suffered enough misfortune during their time in Memoria.

"Do you know what is happening, Cecil?"

Terra lifted her head at the boy, though her gaze was no longer frightened. Instead, she glared fiercely at him, sending a volley of holy missiles in his direction with vigor.

The Onion Knight managed to dodge them, but barely. "Terra, what are you doing? Don't you recognize me!?"

Obviously she didn't, and with a grim expression, the boy drew his sword. "Looks like I have no choice but to fight."

He was right, of course. Terra's form swiftly changed, as pale skin and green hair gave way to the brilliant mane, purple eyes, pink skin and sharp claws of her Esper form. The fight was swift and intense, with Terra mercilessly bombarding him with more of her magic every change she got. The Onion Knight did his best to keep one step ahead, using Comet and Figara to keep Terra and her disastrous Tornado spell as far from him as he could.

"...I don't know," he answered Basch, not taking his eyes off Terra and the Onion Knight. "It's as though her powers are--"

He was interrupted, by Terra's transformation and her attack on the boy. He knew there was little he could do to intervene in what was a memory, but he still felt a sense of uselessness that all he could do was watch his friends fight. "...Her powers seem to be out of control. She is -- attacking an ally."
