Lufene had chosen the wrong person to mess with. Choosing Edgar to kidnap meant that she not only had to deal with him, but also Terra, Celes (who were by no means pansies), and the rest of his homeland friends. That didn't count the number of people who had grown to like any number of the already involved party. By the time the group embarked from Lindblum, they had amassed a decent number of people. Not as many as Celes would have liked for such a mission, but there were enough that she could be reasonably sure of success.
Once on Cid's airship, heading for Pandaemonium, she called the group to order, just like any other military meeting she'd ever been involved in. Standing at the front of the group with her sword at her hip and other items in their necessary places, she definitely looked like a general, a well-renowned one, as well. The determined glint in her eye belied a powerful person underneath, someone who was all business and wouldn't be deterred from her goal.
"I may not know all of you who have volunteered your time, but I appreciate your efforts nonetheless," she began, letting her gaze scan the crowd as she spoke. "My name is General Celes Chere. Our goal is to rescue Edgar. Were it any other day and under any other circumstance, I would be more willing to attack Lufene with the intention of killing her once and for all." She paused for effect. "However, that is not the case today. Edgar is a good man and we need to find out where he is. I don't want to risk going in with energy and guns blazing only to find out that Lufene is far stronger than we expected. If she discovers that we are attacking to kill and we can't finish the job... I'd rather not see what method of retaliation she'd choose. She may yet retaliate anyway, but if she does, I'll hope she chooses me as a specific target and not the whole world as a general one.
"As for our battle plan," she continued, plowing on before anyone would stop her, "my idea is for us to split into four groups: a main attacking force and three infiltration teams. I will head the attack at Lufene's gate, with the intention of drawing her out. We will be the diversion, distracting Lufene while the rest infiltrate and attempt to secure Edgar's safety. This is all you will do. Do not antagonize Lufene.
I will make a false network post to try to bring her out faster. The rest of you are to ignore it and focus on your goal. If something happens, inside or out, your utmost priority is your own safety. Be smart and don't get yourselves killed. Are we clear?"
She glanced around at everyone again, silently asking for questions. Once that was through, she handed out
group assignments, having labored over them for the better part of an entire day.
"We've got supplies for all of you, if you need anything. Be smart once you reach your respective positions. Don't do anything rash. If you need me, you know how to contact me."
With everyone debriefed and ready to go, she turned and prepared herself, mentally getting ready for the difficult task ahead.
Hold on, Edgar. We're coming.
