Characters: All Invitees to Alexandria's Winterfest Celebration Progress: in Progress Summary: It's winterfest. Party Time! Location: Alexandria Date: December 21st
Cid had never been one for celebrations, balls, galas, and the like. Though his status as a Brigadier General and the leader of the Cavalry had forced him to go to enough, it was never something he had particularly taken pleasure in. It was only on Rygdea's persistence (see: nagging) that he was even here to begin with, let alone in his current getup.
Yes, he understood it was a masquerade, but what did wearing something fancy and a mask do to hide who he was when his height gave him away in an instant? And yet there he was, having spent (...see: wasted) his money on a long-sleeved, powder blue tunic, dark grey slacks, black leather boots, and a grey cape to top it all off. Or rather, a small white mask to top it all off; it was a masquerade, after all.
Cid felt like a complete idiot, and only hoped he could make his way out as soon as possible. Then again, there was also that anonymous text message he had received... Hn.
It was easy to spot Raines through the crowd, and easy to tell who exactly he was, despite the mask. None of the natives, or even the Sky People, could rival Cid in height.
It was probably just as easy to tell Vincent apart from the other members of the crowd. He had worn all black, despite the holiday, and it made his pale skin and red eyes stand out from behind the mask. The mask, and the absence of his usual boots and claw, were the only concessions he had made for the party.
"Enjoying yourself?" he commented dryly as he joined Cid.
"There is no point in it. My time could be better spent." Vincent commented, crossing his arms and watching the crowd of people. There was a reason he avoided people, and coming to a celebration like this was not something he had wanted to do at all.
"Rygdea," he answered simply, as if it was the answer to just about any question he was asked. "He insisted that we go to this. Such is the problem with having such an persistent, annoying friend. What is your excuse, then?"
"Tifa asked that I attend, and Rishfee wanted help." He was probably lucky that Highwind wasn't here to drag him into things, or that Yuffie hadn't taken it into her head to insist that he come, but it seemed that others had stepped in to take their place.
"And so we both fall victim to our friends." He couldn't help but chuckle, leaning against the wall he was standing besides. "At the least, they have done a spectacular job decorating this castle."
Rinoa was discovering the drawbacks of her mask - which was that it effectively acted like blinkers - as she manoeuvred around the party. She stepped sideways to grab a drink and walked straight into what had to be one of the tallest men in the room. Gulp.
"Sorry!" Rinoa grinned cheerily, feeling braver since she'd had a drink. "Missed you there!"

"Valentine," he greeted him. "And to answer your question... Somewhat. Galas and the like have never quite been my thing. And you?"

"Why are you at this one?"

He adjusted his mask, the accessory a tad uncomfortable. Why did this have to be a masquerade?

"No need to apologize," he said. "It is quite crowded here, after all."
