The green glow of the Iifa Tree was all too familiar to Tifa. She'd visited to collect someone not so long ago. She hadn't expected to wake up here herself. But the last thing she remembered was fighting Ultimecia... and then an explosion... so...
She'd died. It felt dizzying to put it in such stark terms. She'd died, and come back. But there had always been a price to pay. Vincent had returned to find himself paralysed; Cloud had lost his voice. Tifa got to her feet, at once relieved that she could move, and systematically checked herself for injuries. She stretched, flexing her muscles. Everything seemed to be fine. The explosion must have ripped her to pieces - she shuddered to think of it - but she had woken up in perfect physical condition.
She glanced around, her thoughts immediately turning to her family - were they all right? had Cloud survived? - and saw a moogle already hurrying up to her.
"Here you go, kupo!"
"Oh..." Tifa smiled automatically as the moogle shoved a Sky Phone into her hand. "I'm not new... I should already have one-"
"Oh, and there's another one too, kupo!"
"Another one?" Brushing her hair out of her eyes, Tifa stared as the moogle scurried off. "Wait!"
She chased after the moogle, already half-anxious, half-hopeful that it might turn out to be someone she knew. Just how many had died in that battle? And how many of them would wake up again?
