Squall~ livelyangel August 25 2010, 19:02:49 UTC
After successfully imprisoning Irvine, Rinoa immediately moved on to Squall. She didn't think he would notice that Irvine was missing for a while, but best not to take any chances. So off she went to find him - checking his office first, then his room if he wasn't there.

"Squaaaaall. I've got something to show you."

Much like Rinoa might have expected, Squall had yet to notice that Irvine wasn't anywhere one might have expected him to be found. He might have had a general idea of where any given SeeD was at any given time, but even he couldn't keep track of all of them at once.

And besides, he was busy with the assorted paperwork that came with commanding a Garden - holed up in his office, although he glanced up as Rinoa came in?

"Yeah?"

Rinoa walked over and leaned over his shoulder. "Come and see," she said. "This way."

She reached out to tug at his hand, hoping to get him out of his chair and following her out of the office too.

Squall blinked at that. It wasn't entirely an unusual request, but he certainly couldn't think of anything that was out of the ordinary that he'd need to see. It wasn't even his birthday anymore.

"Come see what?" he asked.

"It's a surprise," said Rinoa. This was true. She liked being able to tell the truth; it was much easier and much more fun than lying. "If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, would it?"

"I guess not," he answered, finally putting his pen down. Admittedly, he was still highly confused about just what she had for him, but it wasn't like it was going to hurt him to go see. That was reserved for when Selphie'd come up with something and his fairly certain that was case here.

"Lead the way."

Rinoa gave him a brilliant smile, happy that she'd got her way. Taking his hand, she led him down one floor towards one of the classrooms. This one was also unused, much like the one she had trapped Irvine in.

"In here."

Opening the door, Rinoa pulled him inside.

Seifer was probably the last thing that Squall expected to see waiting for him inside the empty classroom that Rinoa had brought him to. Best birthday surprise ever--a threesome with your girlfriend and the person you hate the most! Only without the good time that typically comes with such a scenario.

In all actuality, the only ones who would be enjoying what came next didn't include the Garden's commander. Sure, Seifer could have bashed Squall upside the head the instant he was yanked through the door, but then he would have missed his rival's reaction, and the promise of seeing that was just too good to pass up.

Yeah. Seifer was pretty much the last thing that Squall wanted to see, and he didn't even try to stop the instinctive reaction to his presence. It was bad enough that he was still in the Garden, but to have Rinoa bring him to Seifer? What on earth was she playing at?

But he figured that he could ask that later. Right now there was something far more important at hand.

"I thought I told you didn't need to be here anymore," he snapped.

Rinoa shut the door behind her, leaning against it. "Surprise! Seifer and I decided differently. We decided that you're the one who should be removed."

She smiled sweetly at him, and then her eyes met Seifer's and her expression became something different: the knowing look between co-conspirators.

"Besides, I've never been too good at taking orders, anyway."

It was definitely worth the wait to watch Squall lose it to some degree, especially when he tried so hard to keep up a stone wall all the time. Seifer actually had to stop himself from laughing, his amusement at the predicament his rival found himself blindsided with clear enough as he took the few steps that would position him exactly opposite of where Rinoa was standing. Squall would have to choose who he was going to turn his back toward.

The dawning realization that he'd been played for a fool - and well enough that he hadn't even noticed it - did absolutely nothing for Squall's temper, and his fingers clenched unconsciously on the hilt of a gunblade that wasn't there. This was not going well and rather than turn his back to wither of the pair he moved to the side as best he could in the room. If he could just keep an eye on both of them....

"I've noticed," he answered Seifer's comment.

And just as soon as he had the chance he'd see that Seifer was kicked off the Garden himself. Literally, if that was what it took to take care of the matter properly.

Rinoa took that opportunity to advance on Squall, closing the distance between the three of them.

"What do you think, Seifer?" she asked. "Do you wanna take down the mighty commander?"

Even if he managed to divide his attention between the two of them, Squall would be considerably less able if he had to focus on defending himself from two different directions. Seifer wasn't too worried, especially since he and Squall were so evenly matched otherwise.

"I thought you'd never ask." Unlike Squall, Seifer had come prepared. He gripped his gunblade, only to slowly lift the business end of the weapon toward Squall.

Well, that was a moment of deja vu Squall didn't need. Especially without a weapon of his own. Sure, he had a few of the abilities he'd picked up during the endless fighting, but... those wouldn't help against a gunblade and a Sorceress. Against one, maybe, if they weren't expecting it. Not against both.

Which left him with... his fists. Against someone who was easily his equal in an armed fight and someone who didn't need a weapon to drop him which he stood. Yeah. This was going to be fun.

"I want him alive," Rinoa warned him. She was poised ready to put Squall to sleep if he turned on her or Seifer somehow managed to mess this up. Otherwise, she wasn't going to interfere.

Nope, she was going to watch and enjoy the spectacle.
