Characters: Reno & Anyone in Lindblum that crosses his path
Progress: Ongoing
Summary: Reno is getting rather irritated with the moogles...
Location: Lindblum
Date: July 23, 1804
Warnings: Reno's colorful, frustrated language. It's Reno.
Go toward the light. Isn't that what everyone says to do when you die? Go toward the light. Well, Reno had news for them: the light gave you a damned headache! Screw the light! The light was evil, he swore it. Perhaps Jenova had her slimy hand in 'the light'. That'd make sense. Sort of. Okay, not really. Still, he swore it was true in that moment.
But was he dead? That was the question of the day. Bright flashes of light never -were- a good sign in his profession. They typically meant he was too damned close to a bomb going off, or some other form of explosion that could make the world completely Reno-less. A tragedy, yes. Blue eyes cracked open, flinching at the daylight that greeted him. "Well fuck," he groaned, tipped his head to the side... and saw little furry feet. Well, paws - to be more specific. Cute little paws. Attached to a round, fluffy belly, and...
"A moogle?" Why the hell were there moogles when you passed on into the Lifestream? Unless... he hadn't died? Eyes opened that much wider as he sat up, a hand raking through his unruly hair, adjusting his goggles a little. Added weight on the -other- hand led his eyes downward to see that his EMR was still very much attached to his wrist, the leather strap still wrapped loosely around the limb. At least he wasn't completely defenseless.
"You're awake, kupo! Welcome ...!" Blue eyes flicked back to the mostly-white-furred creature in bewilderment.
"Yeah," he muttered, then tore his eyes away from the fluffy being to take in his surroundings just a bit more. Grass. Dirt. A pathway, and oh was it steep. It led to...
"Holy hell..." he breathed, jaw slack as he took in the castle. It was *huge*. Like Midgar - standing out amid the flat land around it, high above the rest of the world - and 'big' did not begin to describe it. "Where the hell am I?" And he could have sworn that moogle had been about to add something to 'welcome'. Sworn it.
And then the critter fumbled for something in a small sack at its side, and something that resembled his PHS from ShinRa was handed over to him. "Ku-pu-po!! That's Lindblum!" A fluffy paw was pointed toward the phone. "You're going to need that, kupo." And then those paws ruffled through the bag again, removing a small, folded up set of papers, too. "This too, kupo!" And then, if it were at all possible, the moogle actually looked upset - or flustered, perhaps? Some form of discomfort, at the very least. Did moogles GET upset? He wasn't all that sure. "Good luck, kupo! I need to tell Regent Cid there's another one..."
"Another one?" This was doing absolutely nothing for his headache. Was that from the bright light from earlier? Or from laying here on the ground with naught but his suit for cover, for goodness knew how long?
The moogle paused in his obviously hasty retreat, nodding his head enough to make that pom bob a bit. "Lots of people are showing up, kupo." And then the annoying little thing had run off - leaving Reno almost more bewildered than he'd been upon arrival.
Almost.
"And who is Regent Cid?" He asked absolutely no one as he stood, dusting himself off and heading up the path into the walled city, complete with castle. "I'm so screwed..." he mumbled under his breath, poking at the Sky Phone. "And how am I supposed to use this? Am I listed somewhere or something?" He poked at it for a minute, then stuffed it into his pocket - he'd deal with it later. For now, he needed to figure out just what was going on, why he was here, and exactly where 'Lindblum' was.
Upon entering the city, he was pleased to see a number of people milling about the metropolis - though they were dressed rather oddly. Or perhaps, he mused to himself, he was the one out of place, since he was the one dressed differently than they were. Damn, but he'd kill for a friendly face. Ha! Even an unfriendly-but-familiar face!
So. This was Lindblum. Time to put his training to the test and scour the place for some information that might actually be useful to him. If he was lucky, some kind sap might willingly divulge what he needed. And if he wasn't lucky? Well, he'd cross -that- bridge when he came to it.
