Date: Early-ish April, 1804 - before Lulu's baby-and-Kefka stuff (backdated because Sumi and I keep going "We totally need to do this" and then getting distracted)

It was warmer down in Luca than in most of the rest of the world, which was fine with Tidus, and Yuna too - they both came from really warm places, after all. So while sometimes visitors couldn't tolerate the place, the people that lived there tended to love it, which was definitely the case for Tidus. He was taking advantage in a break in the wave of rain showers they'd gotten recently to head to the docks after practice and give his boat a good going-over; Auron'd be proud, since he was doing pretty much all of the work on her himself. Considering all of the rest of Luca had no clue how the machina on board functioned, though, that wasn't too surprising.
But working on the Marela took a lot of concentration, and - for the most part - he felt "safe" in Luca. So Tidus had let his guard down - sword in the cabin, not keeping a look out, way too absorbed in untangling some spare line - bad idea for a Guardian. Very bad idea.
