Raine was quite done with waiting. Her patience ran long and deep, obviously so given how well she'd taken to waiting for Laguna at home. She even tolerated waiting, with a great deal of some persuasion by Laguna, for the Garden to arrive to go see Squall. Even if he hated her, even if he didn't recognize her or for that matter she him, he was her son, and she was going to see him well. The irony that she was going to meet him in practically the same condition she met his father wasn't lost on her and if she weren't so Hyne-damned worried about him, she might have even found that a touch amusing. I hope he's a better patient than Laguna.
For the poor unfortunate student the with bad luck to encounter the Loires just inside the gate, they were faced with a protective mother on a warpath. Her typically gentle demeanor was laced with determination and spooked the student enough so that when she asked where Squall was, the stammering soul took her straight away. Only when she got there did she even vaguely remember herself and offer apologies and thanks before admitting herself, trusting Laguna would be right behind her.
She issued a soft rap on the door, then nudged it open, asking softly, "Squall?" If he was asleep, she would let him rest, but neither would she leave. There, she paused, looking in on a face she only recognized from the video feed on a small phone. A face that only so slightly even resembled the tiny one she'd studied in depth before she'd fallen asleep holding him. Before she died. Even the name was still unfamiliar for her and she was simply taking it on the word of others that it was so. One deep breath, and a glance to Laguna for support, then she continued, "Are you awake?"
