so it would appear that I lost my job on monday. my position and that of the detail/wash guy are going to be combined as neither of us had much to do at most hours of the day. I'm a bit shaken up as I enjoyed that job a lot and had grown quite close to many of the staff. so, if any of you know of some job opportunities out there. I am back in the hunt. after working full time for some time getting up at noon and watching discovery channel just doesn't hold the same allure. I need to be out there doing something with my time and saving up some cash for gear/europe/tickets to the 800 good shows coming up.
Speaking of shows:
Dolphin Striker, Means, The Reception and one other I think, in macgregor tonight.
Dolphin Striker, Every New Day, and Summers End at the Label gallery on August 2nd
christine fellows was magnifiscent last night. I think I want to marry someone who can play the cello. so hot right now. weakerthans provided the rhythym section, and john k came out to do some guest guitar and harmonizing on a couple of songs. it's nice to see that those boys still enjoy playing small little haunts like times change(d) even after achieving such success.
the other night I had a dream that we were playing the west end again, except the stage was covered in mattresses... which were in turn covered by one giant pink sheet. we were falling all over the place because of the mushy nature of the stage, and if you would get too close to the mic stands they would tip over, and pedals wouldn't work when you stomped them, they would just sink into the stage. it was terrible. the sound guy adamently insisted that it was for sound purposes and made everything sound substantially better. then he decided to take my amp and put it backstage also for some strange sound reason, which meant my footswitch was also offstage and I had to run back there every time I need to change channels. then aaron from mewithoutYou appeared to the side of the stage, apparently they had been added to the nights roster. I coudln't let them see us play so badly!, so I went to go bring my amp back onstage and by the time I got back with it the rest of my band had dissassembled their stuff and we didn't even get to play my two favorite songs. what a nightmare.
