Dean mumbled groggily, one hand drifting up into the air.

Pulling off a boot, Jack set it aside and reached for the other one.

"Sounds like you started it, Beautiful Boy." He said, gentle laughter in his tone.

The hand in the air eventually found the side of Dean's face, and he winced almost violently. "Fuggin'. . . ." He blinked around. "How'd I. . . ."

He was so confused.

Getting the boot off, Jack straightened and looked at the slightly pathetic figure Dean was cutting at the moment.

"Don't go anywhere, unless you have to barf, in which case get your ass in the toilet," Jack said, disappearing briefly and returning with ice wrapped up in a wash cloth.

He couldn't find a bag of frozen peas.

Putting a knee on the bed, he leaned over and placed it gently against Dean's jaw.

"Here, hold that in place for a bit."

"'Kay." Dean followed the directions easily as he stared up at his ceiling and tried to figure out what happened.

". . . Oh fuck."

"That good, huh?" Jack asked as he rummaged around until he found Dean's medicine cabinet.

Flipping through bottles, his hand paused on a small brown bottle with a label indicating some heavy duty painkillers and he gave it a curious rattle, eying the pills before putting it back. A bit more ferreting about revealed the aspirin he was looking for and he shook a couple out onto his hand.

Then went and got Dean a large glass of water, bringing the analgesics and the water back to the bed.

"Wuz Jim, wuznit. Sniffy fugger."

Booze plus sore jaw equaled not terribly good at enunciating just now.

Jack held the aspirin and the water towards Dean.

"Jim?"

"Fugger," Dean said again, then tossed back the aspirin and water like they were going out of style. "Sniffy fugger."

It totally made sense in his head. But then he realized that Jack didn't live in his head, and added "Lana's."

He was starting to speak drunk, swollen jawed Dean ... it scared Jack. Sort of.

Taking the glass of water, Jack refilled it, adding some ice this time and then returned and this time sat down on the bed.

"Lana's?" He asked, getting an idea of the picture being painted here but wanting to be certain instead of assuming.

"Ah," Jack said with understanding.

From there, it wasn't too hard to connect the dots from what Jim had said, to where they were now.

"So you took a swing at him and he returned the favor?" Jack asked, reaching up with a gentle hand to study the damage to Dean's jaw.

"Fuck," Dean said, in what was probably the only agreement Jack was going to get.

"Woulda 'ad 'im if you hadn' fuggin' hit me first,"

He was totally starting to get a pout going.

"I'll add that to my list of sins," Jack said, his thumb touching that pouting lower lip as he angled Dean's jaw for inspection.

Dean let Jack check him out with the resigned patience of one used to these sorts of ministrations.

"I totally showed 'im though, right?"

"Showed him something, I'm sure." Jack agreed and he nudged Dean to put the ice back on his jaw.
