A bittersweet trip to the old neighborhood (and I forgot my camera)

Jun 21, 2011 23:42

I had semi-reliable source say that my old road had been burned - 40-50 acres worth. I had to find out if my old house was still there, so I made the trek this afternoon.

Remember when the stalker chick called me shortly after I moved, and proceeded to tell me that they guy that bought my house cut down all of the woods, and that broke my heart?

Well ( Read more... )

burners, wildfires, bye-bye pleasantville, neighbors, stalker chick

I am so very sorry about the drought you are experiencing. By the end of next month that will be us in the Midwest too ( ... )

Makes you mad the lies they tell just to move a property.

Well, she told me this AFTER I sold the house and moved. I worried that the buyer of my house would clear "my" woods that I loved so well.

I almost cried when I saw all the trees still standing. I miss my woods.

When I lived in that house, one of my neighbors had trees and brush between their property and mine. It was on their property, and they started clearing it.

Very politely, I asked that they reconsider, and why. Oh, Privacy! What a great idea! They stopped clearing.

After a while they got mad at me for calling the cops on their illegal burning (long story), so they cut down those trees, and burned them (they burned them in an illegal manner, too).

The first two pics in this post are a before and after of some of the woods they cleared to spite me:

Perhaps I shouldn't tell you this (for fear of putting bad ideas in your head) but I know how I'd fix their little red wagons and make them do the planting of the new hedge.
Down in the south people have a habit of making and then putting cutesy wooden cutouts of people doing funny things out in their yards.
One of the questionable ones is of fat old men and women bending over in the garden--so that you can see some "crack" showing. Another one I've seen is of a hound dawg with his leg up in the air which serves as a water hose holder.

Perhaps you should consider giving your neighbors a really good view of your opinion of them?
Make up some of the ugliest cutouts ever seen and put up out there and then add a row of white-painted tires and a flock of pink flamingos. A bottle tree might also be a tasteful addition...

I did have a bottle tree! I'd love to have another one. Actually, I'm making a wine bottle border for my flower bed. It will be tasteful, or else I'll pull it up and start over.

Luckily, those were my old neighbors, and I moved from that neighborhood last fall. But no, they would not have cared one way or another, no matter what I did.

They were total trash. I live amongst the civilized now. :)

I live amongst the civilized now."
Which means, of course, that you have to behave yourself.
I guess this means no painted cutouts of granny bent with her underwear showing then...{{{Sigh.}}}
