This particular self hasn't seen you in countless years. The Original One and I had... a difference of opinion, shall we say? I took the liberty of resigning from the role she'd intended for me, severing my ties with the lot of you, and leaving our planet. I've not regretted the decision once, though the Original One has since met with a rather bitter fate. Currently, I'm a member of the Internova Police Force, sent here as part of an undercover investigation.

I feel I can disclose this ordinarily-classified information to you, of course, because I'm quite sure you'll be discreet. If not, I am still quite capable of ripping knowledge right out of the minds of others. Please don't take that as a threat, only a precaution: if you are not the same Dialga I once knew, after all, there is the very distinct possibility that you are a Dialga that may not be trustworthy.

Well, then that narrows things down to two probable causes for everyone's current confusion:

1. Somebody has altered the memories -- and physical appearance -- of a significant portion of the school's inhabitants.
2. Somebody mashed a few parallel dimensions together like so many bumper cars.

As neither dimensions nor memories are within the scope of your power, you see why there's no need for concern about becoming a scapegoat. An accusion simply wouldn't stand up under scrutiny.
