Hi Everyone! I am new to writing fan fic so please feel free to comment and let me know what you think!
Shock.
Pure shock.
That was all she could feel. No wonder he had taken her here, to the most beautiful planet she had ever seen. They stood in the center of an immaculate garden, the flowers where enough to take your breath away. They reminded her of peacock feathers….but, different. The meter long thick stem was neon blue, the petals where the richest colors she could imagine. Starting with a blood red at the bottom, every centimeter was a different colour: Dark blue, sea green, neon orange and a flaming hot pink. The smell was a mix of sweet perfume and fresh baked pastry. She looked deep into the Doctor’s chestnut brown eyes and all the emotions came flooding in.
She loved him, she always had. He had been more then a mere “boyfriend” to her. That title, it didn’t even begin to describe their relationship. He was someone that would take her to any end of the universe and any place in time, just to see her smile. A companion that would sacrifice the universe just to keep her safe, literally! The day she was torn from him was the deepest pain she had felt. She spent every waking moment trying to return to him. He was her only thought, her only chance at true happiness and she would never just “move on” as her mom kept nagging her to do. It had paid off and they had been reunited, just to be torn apart again.
She still wasn’t sure how she felt about that. Deep inside she knew what he had given her. She remembered the day he had told her that he would stay young while she aged, continue to live as she died. He had given her a Doctor that would only have one life, a life to spend with her. But was it truly a gift or was he running from his feelings? As they drove home, her mom rambling on about nothing the entire time, she kept thinking…what if he had just said, “I love you”. Or was it for the best? Could she stand being an old woman while the young doctor rushed about the TARDIS? She had been so torn. And what of this new Doctor? He was the same…but, different. She had always known that the Doctor loved her but this Doctor would tell her! He wanted to spend his one life with her and all she wanted to do was cling to him and never let go, but it wasn’t her Doctor. Or was it?
Her mom had dropped them off at her flat, after making Rose promise ten times that they would come over for dinner the next night. The second she had led him inside he grabbed her and held her close. She felt the warmth of his skin and couldn’t hold back the tears, how she had missed this: his touch, his smell, just being close to him. He ran his hand over her face, wiping away her tears and she will never forget what he said “Rose, I will never leave you again. I thought about you every single day, my life was empty without you and if I could have I would have trapped myself in this universe with you long ago. I love you”. She pulled him as close as she could and knew things would be ok.
For the entire time they traveled together they slept in different rooms. She had always considered joining him so that she could fall asleep in his arms but never did. It just seemed too domestic for him. The next day when she woke up next to him was bliss. She still thought about the other Doctor but knew he would never stay still long enough to lay in bed with her and watch the sunrise. She didn’t even know how long or if he slept! Every time she woke he had been tinkering with this or that on the TARDIS, ready for their next adventure.
She was in agony watching him wait for the TARDIS to grow. She knew how hard it was for him to be confined to a flat that wasn’t bigger on the inside, a home that couldn’t take them around the stars. He never complained but she could see it in his eyes. He was bored. She kept him occupied with chasing local ghost stories, among other things, but she knew it just wasn’t enough for him. He also could not bear being so close to her mother. He would hide her in bathroom while she lied, telling her mum that he had gone out for a walk but that they would pop by tomorrow. It was all so domestic.
So why was he doing this? They have the TARDIS again, they have each other and they have the stars…but there he was…the Doctor….on one knee…in a garden smelling of fresh baked bread…asking her, Rose Tyler, to marry him.
“YES” she shrieked, tears streaming down her face and a smile so big it hurt. “But don’t think your getting out of planning the wedding mister!”
