Title: For One Moment
Rating: G
Pairing: Doctor/Rose
Genre: angst, fluff
Spoilers: through the end of "Flesh and Stone"
Summary: The last scene of "Flesh and Stone" from the Doctor's perspective
A/N: Under the cut
A/N: This was my first reaction when I saw that for just a moment there, the Eleventh Doctor kissed Amy back.
She is launching herself at you, this woman you first met as a child. She’s tearing at your clothes and it’s all you can do to keep your bracers up as she chases you across the room. One of the many trains of thought running through your head understands it perfectly, knows that she is only doing this because she spent over half her life obsessed with you, because she’s getting married tomorrow, because she just had a brush with death that was too close for comfort.
And suddenly your back is against the TARDIS and over your frantic protests she begins kissing you.
And for one moment, you’re lost. Your eyes are closed and you imagine that the hair brushing your cheeks is blond. A memory of her unique scent fills your nostrils. The mental image of her deep brown eyes overwhelms you. You remember kissing her as she burned for you, as another woman walked in her skin.
You remember how you never got to kiss her again. Not properly. How you had to watch as your mirror image took what you wanted, what you resisted for all the wrong reasons.
And that memory gives you the strength to reach up and break away from the girl in front of you. Because if you couldn’t have it with Rose, you most definitely cannot have it with Amy, who is pursued by cracks in Time and cannot remember what has most definitely happened before.
Not Amy, who at the moment may be the most dangerous being in all the universes combined. And the puzzle is a welcome distraction, allowing you to shove all your sorrow and longing deep into the recesses of your mind.
Until the next time you remember.
Concrit welcome, as always.
