Oh, this is painful for them, but so believable, too - he must be going bonkers with not being able to move around, and I can see Rose (who does make friends easily) finding it hard to cope with the longer stays before moving on. Easy to leave when you're never somewhere more than a few hours, but six months does mean you're starting to put down roots. They're so different, and most of the time they find ways to communicate in order to bridge those differences, but it so makes sense that there'll be other times when they simply can't. And he hates explaining himself :(

This made me catch my breath:
Then she asks softly, because she’s curious and has never had occasion to ask before, “What was its name? Your planet?”

For a long moment, she doesn’t think that he’s going to answer her. Facing away from her, in a whisper, she barely hears. “Gallifrey. I’m from Gallifrey.”

Said like that, so softly, filled with loss and longing and guilt and regret, and all of the other things he’ll never show to her, it sounds like a prayer, though to what or whom she has no idea.

Perfect, so poignant and lovely. Looking forward to more!

It's kind of trying to get them right, because most of the time all I really want to do is throw a satsuma or two at them in order to, um, encourage them to get their stuff together already. So it's nice to hear I'm getting it right. Keeps me from going off to write the sort of mindless fluff that I probably could.

I was so afraid that moment was going to be cheesy! Heh. I'm really glad that it worked out as it should've.

Thank you so much for your commenting. It's a big encouragement and motivation for me. :D
