Six Dancers Left Standing

Couples
Ivan & Natalie started out with a Jive to Route 66. Looked fun, but messy to me. More than a couple of times I felt like they missed a cue or two with poor timing. Mia's "fake" comment hit the nail on the head for me. Their second routine, Contemporary, was tired and got me tired. Natalie was better than Ivan, but it didn't create believable emotion. Mia really let them have it and it all rang true.

Benji & Donyelle had the best chemistry in the first several weeks when the couples didn't change, so I was really surprised that a few times during their Jazz number, they seemed to be dancing solo... but overall it was fun. Benji really looked like Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria to me and I don't think Donyelle was always the one missing the moves. Later, they got to do a Hip Hop routine, fun and funky. I felt that Donyelle was moving better than Benji, but he's got the momentum that can't be stopped, so he got most of the praise.

Travis & Heidi were paired, of course, and I think I could hear Heather squealing with joy all the way from D.C. . Their Smooth Waltz showed good chemistry, and, to my totally untrained eye, were the best couple dance so far, well-timed and smooth. Heidi and her dress were working it big time, and that was good. They were assigned Pop for the second dance, but it looked/sounded more like African Contemporary

Solos
Travis: As usual, I felt the power that is obviously present in his legs. I didn't care for the backwards steps thing, but, overall, Travis is niec to watch.

Natalie: She did go on her tip-toes some, but Heather's least favorite move didn't really show up. I really dig her thing where she spins on her knees, but i started thinking halfway through how much I missed Allison.

Ivan: His Hip Hop solo reminded me how the once ubiquitous Pop-and-Lock dance craze has all but fizzled. He did fine, but I thought it was funny that his jacket fell off his shoulder just like the one in the Jive routine did.

Heidi: her solo was fun, hot and energetic. She seems to be taking Nygel's comments about keeping her face from scrunching up to heart and it is looking good.

Benji: OK, he can dance, there is no denying that. There is nothing he can't do, except, I'm afraid, take that goofy grin off his face.

Donyelle: Nice moves, pleasant to watch.

Predictions
Ivan will go home and Natalie should join him, but Donyelle is in danger. Benji and Heidi will not be in the bottom at all.

so you think you can dance, entertainment
