A broken laugh bubbles in his stomach and comes out.

“I know. I know you do.” He smiles and lets his eyes close. Exhaustion fills every fibre of him and makes his body heavy. “Home,” he mumbles. “Wanna go home.”

Sleepiness takes hold of him, and he doesn’t fight it, but lets it take him away, sighing.

The smile stays even after his breathing ( Read more... )

He waits for the boy to fall asleep before he tries to move him, but his injuries prevent him from even being able to get up, and he feels exhaustion hit him like a punch to the face. Not even bothering to try and stay awake, he maneuvers himself so that his head is lying on Sullivan's chest, and as soon as he closes his eyes, he blacks out.

{Me too. He's such a stubborn bastard. :3 I think we should skip ahead to where Sulli wakes up.}

Sullivan dreams.

There are times when he can’t separate dream from memory, and others he knows that he is deeply asleep, wandering around in his own mind. It takes him a long time to surface from the near comatose state.

When he finally comes to, the first thing he notices is that he is warm. Not physically warm, but warm nonetheless. It glows in his chest, like a candle under his skin, connected to something outside of himself.

Connected to Anton, he understands as the fog of sleep starts to lift from his mind.

He groans and stirs.

Light blinds him when he cracks open his eyes and instantly makes him close them again. It stings. He tries again, going more slowly this time, and manages to focus. Above him is a white ceiling that he thinks he recognizes. The smell of anaesthesia and something sour and metallic invades his nose.

He’s in the hospital.

“Anton?”

(Yep, that's what I figured I'd do.)

Ariya's head snaps up from where it was resting on his bed, and she moves until she is peering over his face. "You're awake!" she exclaims. "You're-"

She doesn't even bother to finish her sentence, just wraps her arms around him and squeezes until she can't anymore. She thinks she might be crying, too, but she tries not to think about it.

He can hardly breathe through the tight embrace she is giving him, but he thinks that he doesn’t mind all that much, at least not until his chest protests against the pressure. “Heavy,” he wheezes,” can’t breathe.”

Smiling, she untangles herself from him, and Sullivan sees that tears are running down her face. It’s the good kind of tears, though. “C’mere.” He makes a vague gesture to the empty space next to him on the bed.

(It makes me so sad too D: These boys have pretty much been my life for the past four months. I'm super excited about Jas and Alejandro, though!)

She crawls into bed next to him, resting her head on his chest. "Master Anton is in surgery," she says. "His magic got drained and he couldn't self heal like you did, so they had to patch him up by hand."

{Me too! I miss Jas. And I'm super excited for Sinthia. :D}

“I don’t remember much.” There was blood, so much blood, and pain worse than anything he ever has experienced before, but beyond that he can only remember Anton’s tear stained face and the words he murmured to him.

He relaxes and puts an arm around the girl snuggled close to him, wishing he could hug her better or stroke her back, but at the moment he feels too weak.

“I’m Bonded,” he whispers, the words foreign and strange on his tongue. “I’m truly Bonded.” He smiles.

(I know! I can't wait to write her! And her overprotective dad, XD. We should probably do a bit of planning.)

She looks up at him, blinking slowly before smiling. "I know," she says. "You could see the other half of Master Anton's heart through his chest when they brought him in. Doctor Frankenstein you should have a full heart by now."

{True. So they meet Jas when Absinthia is in danger and he saves her, after he sees a show and Alejandro approaches him, but he turns him away, still hung up on Sulli, maybe?}

“About bloody time. I’ve been pining after him for ages. That just goes to show how stubborn Anton is, doesn’t it?” And he laughs then, pure and genuine and warm, and smiles so wide that it hurts his cheeks just a bit. “I doubt he’s going to change much, but at least he’s mine now.”

He likes the sound of that.

(Yep. And Jas is gonna be spooked, because Alejandro smells incredible to him. Do we need a conflict of some sort? Maybe not between them, but another sort?)

She smiles at him, and lays her head back down. "I'm glad for you," she says, voice genuine. "You're good for him. I think he might actually start to be happy, with you always there for him."

{Maybe someone trying to bring down the circus?}

“Yeah,” he murmurs, quietly, and closes his eyes. “Like it or not, he’s not getting rid off me anytime soon. Not unless he wants our hearts to burst.”

He can feel the heart in his chest; it’s an alien presence, one it will take some time getting used to, but he treasures what it represents. “Is Agni around?”

(Maybe? :3 I can't think of anything sensible now. Well, except something as cruel as Absinthia and other circus children being taken/sold as a slaves or worse -blinks-)

She nods, and sits up, getting off the bed. "I'll go get him," she says, and leaves quietly.

She comes back a few minutes later with Agni in tow, who grins as soon as Sullivan's eyes land on him. "Hey," he says, coming over, clapping the boy on the shoulder. "How are you feeling?"

{Maybe someone has a grudge against Grimm and kidnaps Absinthia?}

”Like I could sleep for a month on end,” he replies, returning the grin. “But other than that, great. I feel great.” He tugs at Agni’s sleeve to make him sit, a groan slipping past his lips as he sits up and puts his arms around him in a weak, but affectionate hug. The man chuckles against his shoulder and happily indulges him.

When he sinks back against the pillows he’s panting softly, tired from even something so easy. “I guess everything is over now, huh?”

(Oh, that's a good one :3 I'll need to think of someone.)

Agni nods. "Usoa is dead, Jack is apparently not too terribly angry with us, according to Frankenstein, though how he knows that I can only guess." He rolls his eyes. "Anton should be done with surgery soon. Oakley's patching him up nicely."

{Yay!}

He shudders at the mention of Jack and resists the urge to raise a hand to his neck. He has a feeling that he will have nightmares about him for a long time to come.

Sleep pulls at him and makes him yawn wide, rubbing half heartedly at his tired eyes. “Wake me up when Anton’s awake, okay?” At Agni’s nod he slides down and curls up on his side, one arm under the pillow and a hand on top of Agni’s, and falls asleep in the matter of seconds.

(OKAY-I've really got to sleep now. I'm getting up in like, two and a half hours, XD. It was totally worth it, though! Sleep tight, my love! See you tomorrow?)

He wakes suddenly, as if from a dream, to a white hospital room. He blinks, trying to get his bearings before he turns his head to look around. Sullivan is on a bed not to far from his own, asleep and well. He feels a smile touch his face to know that he is alright. He wants to call out, to make sure that he'll wake up, but he can sense, somehow, that Sullivan is fine, only asleep.

The Bond.

The smile fades from his face as he realizes the full impact of what the will mean, and how, thinking about it, he;s not really sure that he minds.

{Sorry for keeping you up! I'm going to kill you with sleep deprivation, love. D: And of course!}

His eyes flutter open, and he’s not really sure why -it’s almost like being forced awake-, but instantly they seek Anton to ensure that the man is there- Who is awake and looking at him. Sullivan stares and blinks sleepily, slowly, and then he sits up and swings his legs over the edge of the bed to stand up. His legs won’t carry him properly at first, numb are they are from lying in a bed for who knows how long, but he crosses the gap between their beds with a little effort and climbs in with Anton.

It’s only when he can put his head down on his shoulder and drape an arm across his chest that he can relax again. He presses his nose into the hospital shirt, eyes closed, and shivers. The warmth in his chest grows at the contact to fill the rest of him.

He does not say anything, merely snuggles up to him and holds on.

(Aw, don't worry about it. I promise that I'm really trying to go to bed earlier. I'll need to nap when I get home, so I might be on around seven-eight :3)
