Friday before I left for london we went to Trim castle where they filmed braveheart. It was very peaceful. We climbed all over the place, several people fell down the hill leading to the moat. I don't think I will ever get the grass stains out of my jeans.
I have been in London for two days now and my god is it expensive. I have to keep mentally doubling everything. Dinner was 5£(while cheap enough when doubled it is $10) It took a lot of walking around and several phone calls before we found a hotel room - price tag of 100£ a night. I think I may flee in terror of the prices. The first night here was very interesting due to delays in flights and trains I didn't actually get in until almost midnight. We then wandered around until about two trying to find a hotel room unsucessfully. Then hitting a night club until 3am where we met a guy at the club who we started to hang out. He was very intersting and after the club closed we went wandered around until he said he had to go because he had work in the morning and offered to give us a ride to the hotel. Well we told him we didn't have one and were just going to hang out in the casino until morning and then see what we could find. So he invited us to stay on his sofa for the night. The night before we had had very little sleep due to homework and packing so after a short discusion we agreed(not that we had many other choices). He turned out to be a very nice guy and the next morning he tried to help us find a hotel room he also asked us what we planned for the day. We told him were going to the London Eye and he got us free passes plus tomorrow he is getting us free passes for a Tames boat tour and the Dahli mueseum. The view from the eye was beautiful, it would have been well worth it even if we had to pay for it. My friend wouldn't get up this morning until 11:30 and then we didn't leave till almost two so most of the day was wasted. Unable to sit still I walked around for about 20 mins and then wandered into a starbucks, met and Italian guy and proceeded to have a discusion about Piers Anthony, Assimov and aliens. Meeting him for coffee again tomorrow. I think I want to stay a little longer, but I am afraid that if I do I will go very broke and not have much money when I get back to Ireland. Too much to do and not enough time( not quite true in that it is just so expensive to stay here). I've been here two days and have already spent over $600. Ahh but you only live once right. I need to come back when its not Wimbelton and all the aren't hotels are booked solid.
