I stole this word from word from Antimon. Not out of laziness, but because I simply could not put this any better myself. So, for those who read my LJ but not his or PG's.....
Pandacon 2011 (AKA Disney)
While I'm updating this thing, The anual trip to Disney to celebrate Pandaguy's birthday is approaching.
Dates have not been cemented in place yet but we're looking to attend mid feb, likely a week to 10 days centered on Feb 15th. We still have room & time to be flexable. We're opening up an invite for 2 types of guests to attend.
The first thing is we're looking for fully commited people to stay in our suite of rooms on Disney property, to be fully involved for the entire duration of the trip. we have a central booking for the hotel, deposits are paid to the travel agent by November 15th, full balence is due 30 days prior to trip. Travel to and from Orlando is your individual responsability, but the trip will have hotel & park admission organized for you, but you're still responsable for your percentage of the room cost paid upfront. Typically hotel + park access is around $700 - $1000 for 7 ish nights. Your transportation, food and souvineer money is in addition. We do numerouse, atleast 3 or 4 character meals during the trip which tend to be more expensive but good food and rewarding experiences, plan for $20-$30 a piece for those.
This is a special kind of trip to Disney, we're experienced Disney go'ers who are not nessicarily looking to do the whole park end to end. Due to the makeup of the group, there are very specialized intertersts here. We focus mostly on Character & animal interactions moreso then rides though we do a number of those as well. Pace is reduced both due to mobility & stamina concerns of some of our central participants, as well as the atmosphere we like to maintain of a laid back casual hanging out at disney. relaly soacking the experience in. Typically we are up very early when doing character meals, but other times, we lounge in bed til 11 or noon. While it is ok to splinter off for specific attractions or one of the days to do yoru own thing, if you're staying in the room, we ask that a good majority of your time is spent with the group. We typically have lots of entertainment in the room as far as videos and such. Expect lots of baloons & fursuits, and there is typically atleast one night where we host a party back in the room to have lcoal friends come out to the hotel & hang, which cuts into park time that day. Typically there is also 1 or 2 off site events whether it be a local zoo or neighboring theme park, generally played by ear, & cost is extra & individual
Which leads us to our second group. In the past, we have met up with people for a day or a weekend within the bigger trip and played in the parks together. These groups are with us anywhere form a few hours to several days, there is no up front commitment or expectation. You are on your own for all arangements, both park access & sleeping quaters, typiclaly we have no room to host people part time or to sleep over night. These friends can splinter off at any time with no feeling of obligation, we'll just socailize in the parks as opertunity presents itself. All we need is contact info be shared so coordination can occur as to where we are when you visit.
