I will totally back Mary up on this. If you go to a good piercer, they can totally do an off-center tongue piercing, or angle it well enough that an overdeveloped frenulum is not an issue. The biggest issue with tongue piercings are the dental issues, but there are a ton of options for different ball ends that are better than metal ones.
Flipped up septum piercings would not be an issue with being pulled out, but you know my pain tolerance is pretty decent and the only time I've cried over a piercing was getting knocked in my nose after I got my septum pierced. I seriously saw black and had to sit down. I'm not sure how often you get hit in the face but that would be the only thing I'd be wary of while it's healing.
