Well, I got my car fixed. Which is to say that my mom's boyfriend fixed my car and all I had to do was provide the parts and a lunch. Still those parts weren't exactly cheap. All told I had to replace the starter, the starter relay, the battery, and have the oil and oil filter changed (had to be removed to replace the starter.) The starter relay really pissed me off though. That malfunctioned a year ago which lead to the extreme wear on my starter and battery. Basically it tried to start... for an hour straight- without the key- in the middle of a Gart's parking lot. Fun times. So replacing the starter relay then was 16 dollars. This year? 42! And we asked the parts guy at the dealership if they sell these a lot: "Well, let's see. 15 last year and 13 this year. So... yeah, I guess we really do." 13 and it's only July!!! Twice on my car in two years?! Just when are they going to break down and do a re-call because it's obviously a major flaw. *grrrrr*
But my baby is purrin' like a kitten now, so it's all good. And I came out with both arms and legs. Somewhere along the line (despite never getting that 2nd summer job) I'd managed to save up a little. Why can't I do this when I'm trying???
I even decided to splurge a little and bought some new cd's and the special edition DVD set of Advent Children. And wow. that movie is beautiful. I didn't know if I should watch the screen or close my eyes, pucker up and kiss it! However, I was a little disappointed with the ending. I can't really go into without blatant spoilers... I don't maybe I'll rant about it later when I have the energy for cut-tags.
Also went and saw Clerks 2. Clerks is Dustin's (ex-boyfriend turned friend) favorite movie, and he was so excited I thought he might wet himself. Seriously, pictured a 250lbs. man hopping around like a Chihuahua on espresso. It was entertainment all to itself.
The movie itself was a little disappointing, too. (I see a pattern forming here.) A little too corny, a little too trite, but it knew it and made fun of itself for it. At one point they burst into a dance number for Christ's sake! But it was delicious. Best moment: Jay re-enacting the "tuck" scene from Silence of the Lambs. OMG! I actually laughed until I cried! ...or maybe that was my retina burning at the sight...I don't know, but I liked it! :B
*side note: go buy Gnarls Barkley. Don't think about it, just do it. You'll thank me later
...if you have any taste whatsoever!
