Summary: An extract I cut from a story that I'm writing but couldn't bear too see it go because I liked it so much.
"He grimaces when he realizes how easily the words spill out of his mouth and he prays to God that she knows that he means it more then anything he has ever meant in is whole, entire life.'
Forever Love
“I’m so sorry.”
The words flowed from Brooke’s lips softly, and she reached out and lightly traced her fingertips over the contours of Dean’s cheekbones; wiping away the hot tears that were beginning to fall down his face. He moved her hand away from his cheek and he began kissing it; tasting his salty tears against her gelid fingers.
“You should never have come looking for me.” He wanted to be mad at her for searching for him, for endangering her life for his own, but he can’t and his voice is strained as he tells her he loves her for the first time. He says it repeatedly - representing all the times that he had wanted to say it in the past six months but he couldn’t. He was too stubborn and too proud to admit it before. Therefore he grimaces when he realizes how easily the words spill out of his mouth and he prays to God that she knows that he means it more then anything he has ever meant in is whole, entire life.
“I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.”
The words are like music; sweet and melodic and Dean clings onto the blind hope that the words would act like a magic spell, breaking Brooke from the binds of her inevitable demise.
Her eyes interlocked with his own and although she was too weak to speak, she looked up at him with a meaningful and pained look, radiating her thoughts into Dean's mind.
“I love you too, always.”
Her concentration falters and her hazel eyes began to take on a glazed look. Dean watched her chest rise and fall softly as her breathing slowed before it halted completely, and her limp body became lifeless beneath his embrace.
