The clouds of relief (with bonus birds)

Jul 21, 2016 03:46

It took me only 10 or 11 seriously hot days and nights in a row in the second half of July to radically change my attitude towards clouds and rain. :) It's amazing how what felt depressing and annoying suddenly became a blessing. :) It was such a relief that the ground and buildings suddenly got a chance to cool down during the first cloudy and ( Read more... )

Don't apologise for the swifts - I never see them around here and they are marvellous!

Those are promising-looking clouds - especially those low ones in shots 2 & 3. I hope they delivered plenty of lovely cooling rain.

Thank you! I have discovered that clouds can be very tricky at this kind of year and can sometimes look "promising' without bringing any rain. Anyway, whichever clouds brought us some rain at around that time (I honestly can't remember), it was enough to make the weather bearable for a long time.

I love the swifts and I miss them terribly in winter. I'm glad somebody enjoyed seeing them in my photos, although I did feel annoyed at first for not being able to photograph just the clouds without any pesky birds. :)

I'd love to see clouds that produced some actual rain. My part of Texas hasn't seen rain since early June! I experienced no rain on my 1200 mile drive to Minneapolis. To my dismay, the high temperature today in Minneapolis is 100 degrees F and humid!!! Yikes!

*goes to conversion site* 100F is almost 38C... ouch!

We did get some rain early this morning, as my mother told me - and I slept thorough it! She hurried to get the laundry from the balcony inside LOL It was then a very mixed day depending on whether the sun or the clouds "prevailed" at any particular moment, but the evening was blessedly cool. I'm afraid we don't have much of this kind of weather left.

Hot and dry is the default for July and August here, so this year's clouds we are just being unusually lucky this year... for now. I'm afraid this very weekend is going to be very hot again.

Um, that should have read, "Those are fantastic CLOUD photos.

I was thinking "Clouds" but I typed "birds."
