Another gift for another teenager, the only girl among my "children".
Alas, poor kitty is now waiting for her new owner to recover from the flu at her town's post office. :(
From this free pattern, with some modifications and additions (not only by me this time):
Tabitha the Destash Kitty by Oliver Boliver. With a bonus ribbon from my mother. :)
Poor thing waiting to be put together. :)
I modified the tail a little to make it curl “naturally” without relying on a length of yarn pulling it from inside (50 rounds):
R 10: K to last 2sts, k2tog, increase (9 sts)
(I used the backward loop increase, which is worked the same way as the backward loop cast on)
R 20: K to last 2 sts, k2tog (8 sts)
R 30: K to last 2 sts, k2tog (7 sts)
R 40: K to last 2 sts, k2tog (6 sts)
The arms are based on Ravely member JaneL2008’s design, from what she restored from her memory or work notes and some guesswork from me. I knitted them flat because I got tired after I heroically knitted the ears, legs and tail in the rouns:
CO 8 sts.
R 1-6: stocking stitch (knit odd rows, purl even rows)
R 7: {K1, KFB} to end (12 sts)
R 8-12: stocking stitch
R13: {K1, KFB} to the end (18sts) (KFB knit into same stitch twice)
R 14-16 (3 rows) stocking stitch
R 17: {K1, K2TOG} to end (12sts)
R 18: Purl
R 19: K2TOG to the end (6sts)
Thread through the 6sts, and secure.
Sew up the side.
Stuff the paw bit only.
Attach at the shoulder.
My kitty's arms ended up with this kind of shape:
