Do you remember my
previous entry about the events in St. Petersburg, Russia?
This is an international petition in support of the straight ally who got arrested and is now awaiting trial for holding a sign saying that his lesbian friend's family was (the best translation I can master of the Russian phrase) "socially equivalent to" "of the same social value as" his own family, and against the law under which he got arrested:
http://www.allout.org/en/actions/standwithsergey Yes,
it is now illegal to proclaim such a thing in public there, to protect underage persons from developing such "misconceptions". It's "only" a local law for now, but there are people trying to get something like that voted on a national level.
So please sign the petition and spread it in your social networks. If nothing else, we can at least show the Russian Prime Minister that the rest of the world is watching, and give the Russian citizens who are struggling against this law some moral support.
