Specially for dan4behr , and anyone else who is interested. Some photos that I took in my neighbourhood. There are losts of such cars still surviving in Bulgaria.
Exhibit #1: The Škoda that Dan recognized in my previous entry.
I am honoured to be the subject of a special post! And how wonderful of you to go out and capture (what are to me) such rare and exotic machines, lol! It's funny, but they sold the Fiat 124-based LADA in Canada (but never in the US) in the early to mid 1980's - so it's the only one of these I've ever actually seen. Adorned with Ontario license plates, they were a common sight on the major North-South East Coast US highway, Interstate 95. Canadians fleeing the cold winters down to semi-tropical Florida were often seen buzzing along that highway. I think the introduction of the Hyundai by the mid 80's pretty much did the LADA in.... The Trabbi's seem to have found an endearing fan-club here in the USA. You could never have gotten one here during the era they were made, but quite a few automotive museums have one here now. Even people who never heard of one knew what they were after the U2 music tours in the 1990's where they featured soaring, flying Trabbi's over the crowds of attendees to the concerts. It is often cited how toxic the plastic and resin body work of those cars were to the environment....
LOL there were plenty of Trabants here (although there were never enough of them, or any other cars, for everybody who wanted one), but it's difficult to find a Trabant now.
