Suddenly, Theo stood up and left the building. He Apparated to his little cottage and made his way in. Hanging up his coat, he ran a hand through his hair, shaking out the snow that had settled there the few seconds Theo had been stood outside in the blizzard, and then made his way upstairs. His eyes automatically turned to the bed where he had place Blaise’s present - and Theo froze, mouth falling open in an almost comical way.
The present was gone.
Theo practically ran over to the bed and scanned the quilt with his eyes furiously - it must be here, it must, where could it have gone?! Theo twisted his head around the room, searching the tops of dressers, tables, anywhere he might’ve placed the present without realising. He went over to the cupboard where the rest of the presents were stored and opened the doors.
They were all gone too.
Theo was all set to collapse on the floor and sob. His heart was flitting like a panicky bird trying to escape its cage. He felt light headed. This probably wasn’t real, Theo told himself, wishing he could believe it (for the pathetic terror that was washing over him in waves felt all too real, all too painful). This was probably just all a bad dre-- and then he spotted a note stuck to the wall. How could I have missed that? he thought, mentally punching himself. He strode over to it, picked up the bit of paper, and - heart still missing every other beat - read the words scrawled there.
