OK, so. MCoG DVDs have arrived. This is awesome. I've been having a fun trip down memory lane the past few days =D
Also, my one belated Christmas present from a certain lady arrived today: Sonic and the Secret Rings. I've not been reading much on what other people have said of it, but I know it's received both positives and negatives.
Here's my view though.
Seems Sonic Team have finally figured out a good deal about how to make a good 3D Sonic game, at long last. It's about time, to be honest. I'll admit, when I first started playing, I was a little disappointed - the soul gauge was conspicuously not there, which I admit confused me somewhat. In addition, the controls were somewhat hard to get used to. However, I'd seen some good stuff relating to the game, so I decided to bear with it.
I'm glad I did.
A few hours' investment has led to a lot of fun. The third and fourth worlds, which I've reached so far, are highly enjoyable. I mean, surfing through a rainstorm on a few wooden planks? On the sea? Riding up ten foot tall waves? Heck yes. THIS is the kind of crazy, action-packed roller-coaster of a ride I've wanted in a 3D Sonic for so long. I feel sorry for the other Sonic afficionados who'd feel ready to write this off after only the initial stages, because this game, when it all comes together, is TREMENDOUS fun. And let's face it, it's been a while since we had that in game of this kind. I'm glad to see it all come together again.
All in all, if you don't mind putting in the effort, get the game. You'll thoroughly enjoy yourself.
Oh, and Sonic Team? More of this, please, with a bit more refinement. This is what we've been wanting for some time. You've ALMOST got it completely right. ^__^
