I think my cat's been reading my diary

1)I have not been catching up on anything. I've been trying to finish this story I'm writing and trying to find a beta reader that is not biased and can just be brutally honest because I really need it. Luckly I found a great place called pulped_fictions moderated by ladybracknell. The summer writing/reading ideas they have cooking up looks really exciting. If anyone else wants to join and share some original writing definitely go for it. I'm still reading over everything there. I've been looking for such a place for a long time and I'm glad I found it.

2)Last week I took a short road trip to San Diego with my mom. I LOVE San Diego. It's one of my favorite places to visit. It's so pretty and laid back and though I'm not a big fan of beaches, the beaches they have there make you just want to stay there forever. Everywhere you go it's green and colorful and then when you take that drive down to Coronado island it's even more so.

My mom's never never been to San Diego before so I took her for mother's day. I don't know what it is with the California highway system but seriously, I get lost every time. Six lanes, two heading left, two heading straight ahead and two exiting on the right. I always end up exiting on the wrong exit and the drivers won't even let you in the right lane so you actually have to MAKE yourself squeeze in or else you're never going to get anywhere. On my next shopping excursion I'm definitely going to buy a GPS. To be honest, I don't have a great sense of direction anyway but if you give me a map and directions I'm definitely going to find the X that marks the spot but seriously, the Google directions sucked. I'm going to bow down to MapQuest next time and the trusty road map.

Despite getting lost though, it was a nice trip. We had a great time at the zoo and Old Town still makes the best Mexican food. It was rather cold but I'll take that any day to the bland desert dryness.

So now that my mom's turn is over, my dad wants me to take him there for Father's Day. Why not? I'm sure he'd want to watch a baseball game which I don't mind. Baseball is a lot better live than watching it on TV. Though it can never beat my love for football.

3) I've also started reading my old blog entries that I now find so amusing. Sometimes I really wonder if I was on something back then. I guess you look for distractions of any kind when all you do is study. The sad thing is, the older entries I've written have all been wiped away and those were the ones which made me really miss those good old days when I had less responsibility than I do now, like the time half of my department called out sick to go to Disneyland because we got free tickets. None of those sites I listed are even active anymore but I still try to keep it up because it does show the graphics my sister and I used to do.

4) Strength is a band belonging to my friend's husband's brother. He's the really tall one, BTW. They play weird disco/hipster music and she thought I might like it because I tend to fancy strange things like that. Suprisingly enough it is strangely good. So yeah... check out Strength if you like some disco rock like you're in an episode of Skins.

5) As for TV, I'm really in love with Parenthood. I think it's my favorite new show. I'm loving all the storylines. It had a slow start but each episode gets better and better. I can't wait for next week and the drama of it all. I used to love Brothers and Sisters but I got tired of the OTT family situations on that show that I just quit following. I hope Parenthood does not disappoint me.

I'm really going to miss House when it's on haitus. The House/Wilson friendship is so damn brilliant and the writing on that show pertaining to their relationship is wonderfully played out. OMG. There are many great bromances out there in TV land but House and Wilson wins out on all of them.

Glee of course was amazing tonight. I just can't get over it. It's corny and over the top but I love the chemistry of the whole cast. I'm so glad Mark/Puck is singing a lot more while Kurt's dad has got to be the most understanding man alive. I hope Ryan Murphy does not mess this show up with what he did with Nip/Tuck. That show got tired quick after Sean and Christian moved to LA. It became completely ridiculous and unwatchable.
