Downsizing!

Today I am selling three sugar gliders. Our numbers are going down. We now have:

3 Cats
2 Dogs
1 Iguana
2 Ferrets
2 Rats
4 mice
4 Sugar Gliders (not including the ones being sold)
2 Chickens
2 Anoles

In a list like that, it doesn't seem like we've downsized much, but we have. XD

The Pet Room will soon be down to just the ferrets and sugar gliders, as all the mice and rats are reaching the limits of their life expectancy. It's already making a huge difference with having less rats and sugar gliders. Way less fruits and greens to buy and prepare.

I'm having a hard time not getting more rats, but it's for the best. I plan to have them again some time, but not in the excess that I once did.

The other day when the third rat finally died, his best buddy stayed curled up to him, never leaving his side, only moving to reposition himself around his deceased friend. They've been together since day 1. It was the saddest thing. Normally a very excitable rat, he practically resisted moving when Austin came to take his friend away. Poor guy. At least he still has his other cagemate.

By the end of the year, we should have no rodents. We seem to be gravitating towards animals that require less attention (lizards). We'll still have sugar gliders and ferrets, but by then I will have Loki neutered, so no more joeys.

Huzzah.

Our new cat, Xavier, is incredible. He's the most easy going, people loving cat I have ever met in my life. He's just amazing. He can't replace Possum, but he sure does help fill the emptiness that was her absence.
