Lucky Ali's new album
I have been listening to Lucky Ali's new album for the last few hours, having just gotten it. It's just mind blowing. I have been a fan since his first album came out in 1997 (if I recall correctly) called "Sunoh".
Back then we used to go to Jackson Heights, eat a lot of desi food, check out the latest hindi movies and rent music videos as well. One of those compilation videos contained a Lucky Ali video called "Oh Sanam", and my brother and I were completely blown away by the song. We mostly rented the videos to check out the hot chics (lets be serious, most of the hindi pop stuff is crap)...so amongst all these crap, the Lucky Ali song/video was a revelation.
We became instant fans.
On our next trip to Jackson Heights we bought the album, and the whole freaking album blew us away even more! One great pop track after another!
Anyway, long story short, I bought all Lucky Ali albums since then...but I wasn't too happy with the last two albums, "Aabhi ja" only had one good song, namely, the title track, and the album before that wasn't upto the usual standard either.
But this new album is just fantastic, each song is good. It's like "Sunoh" or "Aks", well not as good as "Sunoh", it doesn't have that epic feeling. But its very good nonetheless. Clean, upbeat, and at times melancholy, pop music.
Every Lucky Ali fan must get his new album. This guy deserves more recognition in the world music scene.
