I visited my paternal grandparents today, which is the grandparents I see less often, and it was a lot of fun. I regret not seeing them as much as I do. They are really good people, and I'm going to try to make a mission to see them more often now. They even gave me an open invitation to use their Niantic Bay Yacht Club membership with my friends or Kristen etc. So now I got my own private beach to go to.

Seeing my grandparents, along with a combination of seeing the DaVinci code with my lover, inspired me to become a genealogist of sorts. It interests me to know where my roots are from outside of my American generations. I know my mom's family is comprised of members of the Scotish Ross Clan(Thomas Andrew/Elizabeth Chapman), in the far far northern highlands, as well as a Russian Pogrom-victim orphan(Alexander Krull), and a german family(Mary Rupert).

Today I learned the history of my dad's family. All Jewish, first of all, compared to the otherside which was a combination of protestant and episcopalian. Everyone was from Russia (Russian Jews), including one, more specifically from present-day Lithuania. My grandpa's dad, Jacob Shluger, was missing the top half of his fingers (from the knuckle) on his right ring and pinky finger and was sent back to Paris at Ellis Island. His Uncle, who was one of the high ranking leaders of the Hebrew Immigation Association, had enough influence to get him into the country the second time around. The rest have quite interesting name changes. I have a Zimmerman in me, and I'm also a Cohen, which was changed at Ellis Island from Kogan. Shluger was somehow ironically unchanged. The oddest, was my grandma's maiden name Sher. Sher was originally Osherichianski, shortened to Sher by her father. Another reliative of his, who immigrated to Australia, changed Osherichianski to Oshert.

I just like how it took exactly the right combinations of people to make who you are, and with immigration involved, it makes it even more of an extraordinary thing. I am a living example of that being a Andrew-Chapman-Ross-Rupert-Krull-Sher-Osherichianski-Zimmerman-Cohen-Shluger. Awesome.
