The annual "year in review" survey
...although I guess I never posted it last year. But I remember filling it out...
1) Compared to this time last year, are you
i. happier or sadder?
happier
ii. thinner or fatter?
fatter, as in I gained weight...but I also got more toned/muscle so I don't really feel fatter. But I do still need to lose a lot of weight :)
iii. richer or poorer?
richer, but by no means "rich".
2) What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Finally got a full time job, did Bay to Breakers (walked), went on a trip with my dad (& siblings), started working out with a personal trainer, started taking hula lessons, voted for a black president :), had a hot stone massage, attended/participated in a protest, and got a promotion.
3) Did you keep last year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I made any "resolutions" last year, I'm more about ongoing self-improvement goals :) I would like to sleep more, watch less tv, read more, and exercise more.
4) Did anyone close to you give birth?
nope
5) Did anyone close to you die?
yes, one person two weeks ago
6) What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
My own (rented) place, more time with Jonathan, more money (I am getting a raise in 2 weeks), and a lower credit card balance :)
7) What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
November 4th, 2008 :)
8) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a full time job and finally getting to use my degree and my brain :)
9) What was your biggest failure?
Gaining back too much of the weight I lost on Weight Watchers...I need to get serious about that again.
10) Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got vertigo from riding in a broken elevator in Anaheim, and then had several bad allergy issues & sinus infections. But nothing too serious.
11) What was the best thing you bought?
I Love Lucy complete series on DVD! Or hehe my braces, lol. Even though they are a pain to have again, it's improving my TMJ and I'm sleeping better :)
12) Whose behavior merited celebration?
Jonathan's. He graduated!!!
13) Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My dad's, and several of my friends' :(
14) Where did most of your money go?
Bills, bills, bills. Or gas.
15) What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My job, and getting to solo-edit the Rick Steves' phrase books! I also got really excited about going to Disneyland with my sister & brother for their first time, but I think I was more excited about it than they turned out to be...they seem more interested in video games :(

17) How many different states did you travel to this year?
One. Arizona, twice.
18) What was your favorite film of this year?
The Dark Knight, Sex and the City, or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
19) What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
On my actual birthday I went to work, went to lunch with my manager and a co-worker (where the restaurant staff sang The Beatles' "You Say It's Your Birthday!" to me), had carrot cake back at work with my entire department, left early and went to Tiki Tom's for dinner with my family & Jonathan. But birthday week events included dinner and Carrie Underwood concert with my mom, a co-tiki-birthday dinner/drinking celebration with Crunchy and all our friends, and another family dinner. I turned 27.
20) What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
My own place...privacy and the freedom to come home and just do my own thing, cook dinner or not, go to bed at 6 if I want, etc.
21) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Eh I dunno...professional yet casual?
22) Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Not a celebrity, but public figure...Obama!
23) What political issue stirred you the most?

24) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't think I hate anyone, actually.
25) Who did you miss?
Some friends who went AWOL from my life, and my mom when she was in AZ :(
26) Who was the best new person you met?
I don't think I met anyone new, but got to know some co-workers better (I met them in 2007 when I was still an intern).
27) Did you fall in love in 2008?
I already was/am :)
28) Did you make any new friends?
Co-workers that I now consider friends.
29) What was your favorite month of 2008?
December. Jonathan's senior recital was great, I got my promotion, quit my expensive gym and joined a cheaper, better one, Jonathan graduated, I spent a lot of great quality time with my family over the holidays, and got a promise ring as a very special xmas present from Jonathan :)
30) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
Maybe just the gaining weight thing.
31) What was your proudest moment?
Seeing my name printed on the Rick Steves' copyright pages.
32) What was your most embarrassing moment?
Lol tripping on a seatbelt and falling out of my aunt's car in front of a Starbucks in Sacramento. Worse was trying not to laugh about it at the funeral we went to later that night. Fabulous!
33) If you could go back in time to any moment of '08 and change something, what would it be?
Change the past and you change the present. Isn't that a quote from some movie? I wouldn't change anything about '08.
34) How many people that you know have either been engaged or married this year?
Three marriages, but nobody really close to me.
35) Were you a bridsemaid or groomsman?
nope
36) Did you have any vices in '08?
Spending money when I shouldn't?
37) Was 2008 a good year for you?
Yeah, I'd say it was the best year I've had in awhile!
38) What are your plans for 2009?
Hopefully get my own apartment, move with Jonathan, go to Disneyland in April, go to Disneyworld in November. Other than that, I'm open :)
