Why don't men ask for directions?

Or recipes?

I really can't complain about Hubby; he's a stickler for wanting a recipe to follow if he's making a new dish. He might play with it a bit to get it to taste the way he wants, especially after he's made it a couple of times, but he does use recipes.

I wish Boy #1 had his father's habit. He offered to make frosting for the chocolate cupcakes I baked last night. Used up a WHOLE BAG of confectioner's sugar, milk, and vanilla, and was ready to use more sugar before I stepped in. He was mixing this big bowl full of wet, vanilla-flavored goo and telling me what he'd done when I up and asked, "What about shortening?"

D'oh! And this is the kid who's taken Family and Consumer Science three times in the past two years!

Took two and a half sticks of margarine to stiffen up the concoction to where it could actually be called frosting (and I'd have added Crisco to stiffen it some more as well -- if we'd had any). I've got more than I know what to do with, both vanilla and chocolate as the Girl had wanted chocolate frosting on the  cupcakes. I figure I'll be making a nice 9 x 13 cake - or two - just to use it up!

If he'd only had used a recipe!!
