Hi Mel,

Your adventures continue! I'm glad you are still making plans and following dreams. Your desire for a pretzel recipe has inspired me to try them myself. I am planning, by the way, to send you some yeast in the next package from home. I'll also send my favorite recipe for cinnamon bread - yum! Do you have cinnamon there? Oh - and don't forget to let me know what you want for your birthday! Love, Mom

Yay! Yeast! Just what I always wanted! ...It's the little things you learn to treasure when living abroad, like finding gummy bears or perfecting your I'm-on-my-way-to-somewhere-so-don't-bother-me face...or having your Mom send you yeast. ;)
Anyway, if you do try out the pretzel recipe, let me know how it goes. Cinnamon bread sounds great, too! They do have cinnamon in Japan, but there are a surprising number of people who don't like it. I don't think any of the teachers in Tairadate elementary fit that description, judging from their enthusiastic reaction to the apple pie last year, so cinnamon bread might work out really well. I should try banana bread, too...
