Title: King of the heavens before there was time
Fandom: Inception/Arthurian legend/mythology/fantasy

Pairings: Eames/Arthur

Wordcount: 365
Point of view: third
Prompt: Inception, Arthur/Eames, "Kill me again."

The first time Arthur met Eames, he looked him in right in the eyes, smirked, and said, "Fancy meeting you here."

"Oh, I know, darling," Eames replied, smirking right back. "It's a bit ironic."

Dom glanced from one to the other. "You've met?" he asked, surprised. Arthur was brand-new to the business, and Eames one of the first well-known names.

"Yes," Arthur said shortly, turning to look at Dom. "Can we get to it, please? I do have other commitments."

Eames smirked at his back, the only person in the world who understood what a tremendous show of trust that was.

He'd never betray it. He never had in fifteen thousand years, and he wouldn't now. Not even for the world.
.

The first time Artúr met Emrys, he looked him right in the eye and demanded, "Have you come to curse me?"

Emrys had laughed and Artúr's companions pulled back in fear. "Never, my king," swore the most feared demon in three realms.

.

The first time a bright soul met a dark wind, promises were made that only the most powerful of beings could keep.

The bright soul died, as bright souls always do, and the dark wind began the cycle.

For reasons Arthur will never explain, he trusts Eames the way he trusts no other.

For reasons Eames doesn't care to explain, he protects Arthur the way he protects no other - unless asked by Arthur.

Sometimes, Arthur dreams of lives he never lived, places he's never been, people he's never known.

The one constant is Eames.

.

Fifteen thousand years ago, a little boy fell down a hole. A monster found him, kept him warm, and returned him to daylight, something it had never done before or would again.

The boy hugged him and thanked him before running back to his family.

The monster followed, entranced.

The little boy grew into a mighty hunter and warrior, and the monster was always beside him, and when the man died, the monster wove a dangerous spell.

.

Each life, the dark wind remembers.

Each life, the bright soul wonders.

Every time, Arthur meets Eames' eyes with a smile and trusts him. He hasn't regretted it yet.

Criminal Minds/White Collar, Spencer/Neal, discovering one another's darkest secrets

"You had to know I'd figure it out," Spencer says softly, dropping crime scene photos on the bed. "It's what I do."

Neal smiles, pulling a sketchbook out of a dresser drawer and flipping it open to a page squarely in the middle before dropping it on top of the photos. "Me, too," Neal says, equally softly.

Spencer studies the drawing; it fits the photos well, complementary in every way.

"What do we do?" he asks, glancing up to meet Neal's eyes.

Neal's smile darkens. "Team up, of course," he says, stepping around the bed to kiss Spencer fiercely on the lips.

Title: death's time
Fandom: Highlander

Warnings: character death
Pairings: none
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 170
Point of view: third
Prompt: Highlander, Methos, While a goodbye is said, cities crumble and are forgotten (quote from Einstein's Dreams)

Joe Dawson dies on a Saturday, while the sun is high in the sky. He's over a hundred years old and tired. He has one daughter, three grandchildren, over two dozen great-grandchildren, and even more descendants than he'd ever imagined.

He dies at peace.

.

Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod dies on a Wednesday, while the moon is bright and the stars twinkling down at him.

There is always a better swordsman.

Duncan's quickening goes to a thousand year old immortal, and that immortal is defeated a week later, so that Duncan's quickening can go to his closest friend, a man so old no one believes in him anymore.

.

Cities grow old and die. Countries are lost. Oceans dry up and continents crumble.

Methos has seen it all.

He leaves civilization and walks into the desert, tired of people for the moment. He'll return in a few centuries to see if he feels better.

.

The world is changed when Methos walks out of the desert.

He fits right in.

Title: sins of the father
Fandom: Greek myth
Disclaimer: not my characters
Warnings: implied bad things happening to kids
Pairings: Cronus/Rhea; Zeus/Hera
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 185
Point of view: third
Prompt: Greek mythology, Zeus with any combination of Poseidon + Hades + Hera + Hestia + Demeter, Mother Rhea always liked me best

Though she will never say it aloud, Hestia wonders why Mother never acted to defend her children until Zeus.

Though he will cause tidal waves in his jealousy, Poseidon will never question Mother about the years her children suffered.

Though he will always save a dark corner of his realm for fathers who hurt their children, Hades will not listen to his curiosity about his mother.

Though she will be overprotective and quick to act if anything even looks like it will harm her daughter, Demeter will never demand answers of her own mother.

Though she will torment all of her husband's children she did not bear, Hera will never think it a sister's helpless jealousy instead of the rage of a woman scorned.

Though he is the only of Cronus and Rhea's children to have a fairly normal upbringing - or an upbringing at all - Zeus never thinks of it as luck: it was simply the due of a son of gods. That his siblings did not receive the same is of no concern to him.

He does know he is Mother's favorite, though.

Prompt: Merlin, Merlin +or/ any, Merlin swallows back his tears

Merlin swallows back his tears and thinks, I can fix this. I know I can.

There is no spell, no time to second-guess or plan. There is only Arthur bleeding out, Uther already dead, Camelot on fire, Morgana lost, and Morgause victorious. He has no idea if Gwen and Gaius are alive.

But Arthur is bleeding on the dirt, the knights all around him and dying, and Merlin knows he can fix this.

He kneels beside Arthur, puts his hand on Arthur's stilling chest, closes his eyes, and wishes with everything in him.

When Merlin opens his eyes, he's three years ago and on the road to Camelot.

He swallows back his tears and swears to do better this time.
