Also, this is a wonderful theory. :) Nicely done.

During the episode, I wanted to tell Anna that it clearly wouldn't work because it hadn't yet. That's my problem with all time-travel: it's an pointless cycle, because if it hadn't happened the way it did, the person going back in time to change it couldn't be going back in time. You know?

I suppose it's a little hard to tell with this particular event because Mary and John were so conveniently mind wiped. Perhaps if they'd retained the experience something would've changed. Speaking of closed loops, maybe the reason Uriel was such a dick to the boys in present continuity was because Anna told him that the Winchester's killed him, thus turning him over to Lucifer's ideologies, leading him to be killed, not by the Winchesters but by pre-re-educated Anna. So maybe time was changed after all, but we only ever knew the changed timeline in the first place.
Hmmm. I'm going to stop before I confuse myself even more.
Have you ever seen Premonition? It's not quite the same thing as what we're talking about here, and I've forgotten a lot of it by now, but boy did that make my head spin.

And it all ends the same and fits into canon so logically it could've all happened...
