Shalom!
Hey all! I hope your holiday vacation or winter break has already begun, if not, hopefully soon. :-)
Every year the holiday season is kind of strange for me. I was raised Christian (i.e. Lutheran) by my mother, along with all of her side of the family. But my Dad's side of the family, they are Jewish. My Dad does not practice but my grandparents do, so I spend Hanukkah with them each year. Hey, I get Hanukkah presents and Christmas presents! Can't beat that! ;-P
As I've gotten older, though, my grandparents usually just give me money in little dreidel or Star of David-shaped boxes so that I can buy whatever I want for Hanukkah. Hey, can't beat that either! :-)
Well, enough about me, so...Hanukkah is coming up very soon (at sundown this Sunday) and I wanted to post a tribute to the festival of lights with clips from TDS. Even those of you out there who do not celebrate Hanukkah, I'm sure you'll enjoy this list of vids anyways! Enjoy! *big hugs* Oh, and don't worry I will probably make a Christmas tribute with TCR too next week! ;-)
Okay, for those of you who have the Colbert Christmas DVD and have seen the Advent calendar feature, and how on the third day, Stephen is wrapping himself in wrapping-paper and givin himself as a Christmas gift to the Nation? Well, as extremely excited as I am to have Stephen under my Christmas tree, I also want Jon Stewart wrapped in blue and silver paper under my Hanukkah bush! Heehee! XD
Am I the only one????
* First off, here's a vid about the holidays in general, and Jon totally PWNS O'Reilly on his stupid "War on Christmas" thing. Its fuckin' awesome and has a couple of Jon's best quotes EVER!:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=128349&title=Headlines---Secular-Central * This is a TDS/TCR Toss that's also just about religious holidays in general as well. Stephen makes a choice to cut off all religious ties to Jon. Its probably one of my favorite tosses between them! I love whenever Stephen tries to speak Yiddish and always fails at it! Plus, the first thing that Stephen says to Jon is pretty slashy! XD:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=167645&title=Daily/Colbert---Renunciation * A cute intro. about Al Sharpton gone missing. Jon's hair looks frickin' awesome! And of course about Hanukkah! :-)
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=128206&title=Intro---Al-Sharpton-is-Missing * A funny vid! Jon announces the first night of Hanukkah. Hilarious!:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=128310&title=The-Kabul-Guy * Sadly, I think Jon was sick that day but Stephen took care of him. ;-) Stephen covers the Hanukkah buzz during the holiday season. Oh, Stephen! You were the best correspondent EVER!:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=130469&title=Oy-To-The-World * There's a War on Hanukkah people! Stephen and Jon banter a bit in this toss. So fuckin' funny! I love how Jon giggles and bounces up and down when Stephen tries to speak Hebrew. *cries from laghing so hard*:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=115961&title=Daily/Colbert---War-on-Hanukkah * There is a little technical difficulty with TDS/TCR Toss, so Jon plays with his dreidel:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=165390&title=Daily/Colbert---Dreidel * And, of course, I must include at least one vid of Lewis Black! Lewis talks about Hanukkah and how wonderfully fun it is to celebrate. I LOVE you, Lewis! XD:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=124446&title=Back-in-Black---Happy-Holidays * And last but not least, Jon wishes everyone a genuinely safe 'Happy Holidays':
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=119147&title=Happy-Holidays I hope you all enjoy watching them as much as I do! *big hugs* XD
