In or Out of Town . . .

Jan 25, 2009 21:28

I have been out of town for part or most of the last 3 weekends. Barely 2 weeks after I got back from 8 weeks in Dallas. During the week I commute to the Choctaw reservation 2 or 3 times a week - 1 1/2 hrs. one way. I know that many people do this kind of commute every day. For example, someone that works with Cal lives just past the reservation and commutes to the office here in Jackson 5 days a week. At some point I may need to be up on the reservation more often.

I think my brain needs some re-wiring, though. I've always been extremely active. But very rooted. Of course I've always loved traveling. But I never had to travel AND be productive. Traveling was something we did once a year, and that's all we did. The rest of the year I did my many activities - vast amounts of study, viola, soccer, piano, cooking, outdoors exploration, reading, orchestra, random creative activities, music jobs, babysitting jobs, etc - were all done within a 10 mile radius.

Now I'm constantly traveling - AND music to learn, translations to check, workshops to organize, research to do, data to analyze. . . . any ideas for operating efficiently while constantly on the move?!

travel, language, work, music
