I liked the end of Zatoichi, because it's such a typical moment for his films and completely surreal. My favorite of his films remains Fireworks, which is incredible. I also really liked Kikujiro because I found his dynamic with the child to be really endearing and beautiful. Brother was enjoyable, although overall I prefer his full-on Yakuza films. I respect (although didn't totally enjoy) Sonatine (which I prefer to call Yakuza Vacation) because the story arc is so peculiar; it's just a bizarre movie (my favorite scene is where they're playing the sumo wrestler game on the beach).
I've seen A Scene at the Sea but I can't remember what I thought of it. I haven't seen Dolls yet, in terms of his major releases (this one somehow slipped my by). I just added it to the top of my NetFlix queue.
If you haven't, you should watch Johnny Nuemonic because, despite starring Keuno Reeves, Beat Tekeshi has a wonderful cameo. In addition, it's worth watching just for Henry Rollin's character

Yakuza Vacation hehee.Wow you've seen quite a lot of his films! Have you seen Battle Royale II? I hear it's a stinker, so I'm waiting to hear what other people have to say about it. It's strange you said to watch Johnny Mnemonic, because it was on tv tonight, and I purposely avoided it. hahaha I remember Takeshi being in it, but it really isn't worth it to me to watch the whole movie
