I suck at keeping this thing updated. Oh well.
My first few days in Kyoto have been interesting. It almost reminds me of being in Jersey. Only without the beach and a governor who neglects to wear his seatbelt. Other than that though, it`s close.
I haven`t done much since I got here except spend $ (><) Granted, I didn`t take a whole lot of starter money to work from, but it doesn`t help matters that everything here is SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE OMG. Take yesterday for example. All I wanted to do was buy a pillow because the one the dorm gave me consists of nothing more than a sham and some bead filling. So I went to a couple stores to do a price comparision and I damn near fell over at some of the prices. One pillow that I saw was nearly $100! If I were to pay that much for a pillow, it would need to come with a man servant to fluff it for me on my beckoning. Yappari(after all) I ended up at the 100 Yen store and got myself a crappy $3 one. :/
Today the weather is finally looking a little better (i.e. not so muggy as to make me sweat all day and appear as the "icky smelly American gaijin") so I think I am going to check out 金果樹時。 It`s only about 20 minutes away from my dorm by local train.
If I remember later today, I`ll post some pics of my most excellent adventure.
