My mom and I saw The Lion King in 3D over the weekend. Aside from the outrageous movie price, it was a great experience. It was one of my favorite childhood films so when I saw it was out in the theater, I had to go watch it. I remember when this movie first came out, I was about eight at the time and I eagerly waited for it to come out on VHS (my age is really showing here). I still have my Nala puppet around here somewhere. But I digress. It was cool to see that movie in 3D and just to see that movie in the theater in general. I rarely saw movies at the theater as a child so I missed seeing it at the theater the first time around. It had been a good five years or more since I saw TLK and it still hit me emotionally the way it did the first time I saw it. It probably actually touched me on a deeper level now than it did when I was eight years old. Just the idea that our parents or loved ones live on in us was such an uplifting, beautiful, and somewhat terrifying message. I've found that all my favorite childhood movies still have an impact on me today, sometimes I feel like I learned a lot of ideals and morals from the movies I loved as a child. A lot of them came from books and my environment as well but there's a chunk of it I could dedicate solely to the movies/shows I loved as a child.
Besides that, my weekend was pretty ordinary. I just went to a few stores to window shop and try on clothes. I've lost a lot of weight so the majority of the clothes I own are too big for me. I'm so picky about clothes though so it'll take forever for me to fully update my wardrobe (that and the lack of money, heh). I didn't find anything I liked enough to purchase, but I did buy a soccer ball. My goal is to be more active in my free time. Hopefully I stick with it--I always liked to play soccer in gym class (eons ago). And I finished up
The Man of Steel: Volume 1. My favorite issue of the series was the last issue, the one that featured Lana Lang and the Kents. It seemed to have more heart than the other issues. My tastes are simple and I think it shows in what types of stories I prefer. I really miss reading in general, I need to get back into the groove, so to speak.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend. :)
