Chapter 26: Stuck

Shannon came in at 0200 local time after pulling a four hour shift in a maintenance frame working on getting the boarding room sealed. The team she had been placed with had finished fabricating a frame around the blown airlock, and all that was required were panels to weld into place and seal. Getting the frame in place was hard work, and Shannon was stiff, sore, and bruised where the fame had slammed into here while they were trying to spot weld it in place. The day shift could handle getting the panels in place without too much hassle, as the airlocks for the lifepods could easily pass those. She passed back across the gate and up to the hotel room to find Robert in bear form and completely passed out on the bed. She wondered what had happened, but got her answer with one whiff of his breath. "They went drinking without me! Bastards." she muttered quietly. "Ted probably stumped him up to it, I'll bet." She was already in a state of semi-dress, having taken off her jumper, so she finished disrobing as an idea began to take shape. Shannon knew from talking with other weres that alcohol did strange things with their morphing abilities, so he would probably be stuck in bear form until his hangover passed in the morning. She decided to play a harmless prank on him, so she took off her panties and bewitched them to stay in place where she put them. She started giggling as she tied the panties around his mouth, being careful not to catch his tongue between his teeth. "heh. I knew that spell would come in handy for then one purpose" she giggled. She then turned the heat up a little in the room, and after draping a robe on one of the chairs she made herself comfortable and waited for him to wake up.

It was four hours later and shannon was half-asleep when she heard a grunt from the bed. She opened her eyes to find robert trying to get the panties off his muzzle. "Your breath smells like a sewer. Perhaps this will teach you to not go drinking without me. I know what to drink that will make your breath not smell like that, goof." He glared at her, and managed to work out in primal from around his closed jaws. "It's not this, I can't shift down!" Shannon nodded. "Yep. That's why were's generally don't drink. it messes with their shifting abilities. For me, it negates all my spell abilities, which is why I don't drink unless I'm fully ready for it." She got up, and Robert noticed the bruise on her side as she removed her panties from his muzzle. "What happened?" he said. Shannon made a face, and turned around and rummaged in one of the drawers. "I'll tell you after you get some breath mints in you first. Your breath smells worse after stewing closed for a few hours, apparently. Robert nodded, and slowly stumbled out of bed and went into the bathroom. Shannon followed with the mints, and helped Robert gargle with some water before feeding him a small handful of them. Afterwards, Shannon slowly and carefully made her way back to the chair and sat down. Robert followed her, and sat next to the chair and gingerly and carefully put his head in her lap. "So, what happened? That's a nasty bruise you've got there." Shannon yawned. "Oh the bruise? I didn't get out of the way fast enough when the temporary frame we were building fell on me. It does not hurt much, it just looks ugly. It'll clear in a day or so, as I've got a low level healing spell on me at the moment. Robert nodded once in her lap, and Shannon started to scratch his ears and head. She did that for a while until she fell asleep. Robert just lay there, as he waited for the hangover to pass by.

It was about 1030 local time when Robert woke up from Shannon's light snoring. He found that the hangover has almost passed, but he still could not shift, so he figured that they would need to and talk to someone. He decided to wake her up in a most unusual way. He felt around for a usable power source, and found that the power grid could easily handle what he had in mind. He created a tap to himself to charge himself up, and then created a tap to shannon after closing the first tap. After the second tap was created, he started licking her naughty bits to wake her up. This had the result of her eyes popping awake, and she started to giggle. "Fine way to wake someone up". She got dressed as well as she could, and Robert told her to pull power from him to heal her self. "Oh, I did that ahortly after waking up. I noticed that tap was there, and your licking was what actually enabled me to cast the spell. I'm just stiff, that's all. C'mon, let's go see if Ted and Alex are up. they are sharing their room."

They went next door, and the door popped slightly open after a minute. They slowly pushed the door open, and found a wolf there looking up at them. "You got stuck too, huh Ted?" Shannon said. The wolf nodded. "And what about Alex? he was pretty blitzed too, if I remember right." Robert said in Primal. The wolf shook his head, and made a pointing motion to the back room. "Still out, then. Sheesh." The wolf nodded briskly. Shannon looked at him. "Ted, can you talk at all in that form?" The wolf looked at her, and slowly shook his head. Ted pointed his muzzle at the chairs, and Shannon took a seat while Robert planted his butt on the floor. Ted moved over to where his stuff was piled on the floor, and moved some stuff around until he pulled out a small device. it had a series of large buttons on it, and ted tapped the buttons for a couple minutes. then a small voice sounded out which was remarkably like ted's. ::While I can not talk in this form, I can at least comprehend language and used this talker device. A minor setback, and at least this device has my voice print so it at least sounds like me. Alex is still passed out. He spent a long time praying to the porcelin god last night after we got back. I do know that I'm hungry. Do you think the resturant is open?::

Shannon was curious. "I think they are, but will they even serve us? we are kind of strange here." There was a polite knock on the door, and Bear came in. "To answer your question, Shannon, yes, they will. I hope I am not interrupting anything." Ted shook his head. Bear nodded and continued. "Good. I was wondering if I could meet with Robert and give him some additional training." At Robert's curious glance, he contiuned. "I noticed last night that you are not entirely comfortable with bearing in your bear form, is that right?" Robert nodded. " While I can't change your feelings, I can at least show you how to make the best use of all of your forms. And since I appear to be the only were-bear that has time, I figured I would offer my services." Robert thought for a minute and replied. "I accept your offer. I might as well get used to this, since it is who I am." Bear nodded. "Good! We'll head downstairs and eat, and then we can get started." Shannon asked if she would observe, and after a short discussion, It was agreed that it would be a group therapy style of training.

They had just gotten back upstairs, and they checked in on Alex. He had woken up, but was in absolutely no shape for anything. He was at least ok by himself, so they followed Bear to a door on the first level of the hotel. They stepped through to a large forest, and spent the rest of the day teaching and coaching Robert on how to 'be the bear'. Robert did insist on having only bear with him to show him how to manage the bodily functions, though. When they got back, Ted had finally gotten out of morphlock, and was in hybrid form. "So bears really _do_ crap in the forest, then." he quipped. This brought a groan from Shannon and glares from the two bears. Ted looked around. "Yeah, cheap joke, I know. At least I can talk now instead of having to use that rediculous 'speak n spell' thing." He indicated the device now hanging from it's strap by his waist. Robert responded by sticking his tongue out at Ted. Ted's response was to the point. "You lick your momma with that tongue?" Robert shook his head and replied in Primal: "No, Shannon!" Shannon glared at him for a second, and they all started laughing.

The rest of the day went by smoothly, and Robert was much more comfortable with the rest of his forms at the end of the day. They went back to the hotel room, and found a note on the door with Alex's handwriting: Your cabin on board ship is ready for you to move back in. Ted went into his hotel room to pack, and Shannon and Robert were ready to go in the space of fifteen minutes. They went back to the gate to the Hillary, and crossed back over. They took the lift down to the Flight level, and proceeded back to their room. "Home again", Robert sighed. They opened the door and found the largest mess they had ever seen. Besides the mess they had created in getting their duffels ready, the depressurization that had occured had made a mess of some of their stored food and a few other things. Although Shannon was sad that the plants she had brough had died, Robert assured her that they would replace them. They spent an hour getting the place presentable, and then went up to the mess for dinner.
