010 [accidental audio]

Jun 20, 2010 00:26

[The feed clicks on mid-sentence, staticky at first, as though it had been thrown . Laurie sounds pretty desperate, on the verge of either exploding or bursting into tears.]

-ET OUT!

[And there's the sound of glass shattering as Laurie chucks something against the wall.]

No no no no no you have got to be...no. Get out.

You don't belong here. You don't ( Read more... )

What?

[Consider him even more alert and at attention.]

How did he get in?

[Bad question. Maybe even insensitive. She's already upset. Dan takes a good look around. There's a busted chair, magazines and books askew, some of the pictures are crooked on the wall....but there's no Blake. He adjusts his glasses and slowly turns to Laurie.

A good look at the network can tell you what's going on. Oh boy.]

Where is he?

[Laurie rubs her eyes slightly as Dan looks around, they're puffy and red from crying before. She crosses her arms.

To her, Blake's standing right next to Dan, but after talking with the real one...she's not exactly sure what to say now.

There's a long pause.]

He's uh...he's...

[She hesitates, chewing on her lower lip.]

I-I must being seeing things, Dan. Y'know how this City likes to fuck around with us.

[The lady isn't crazy enough to fabricate something like this out of the blue. Dan steps slowly and gently across the carpet like it's a mine field. In the event that he'll suddenly see this apparition of Eddie it would be a good idea. He puts his hand on her shoulder and slides it across the back of her shoulders.]

Sounds like a curse.

[God is it hard to see her cry. Dan fishes for a handkerchief in his coat.]

You've got every right to be upset.

[His touch soothes her, and she pulls herself closer to him.]

Maybe...

[Her voice trails off, and she inhales, still in the process of calming herself down.]

I'm sorry Dan, I must've waken you up.

[Dan presses a kiss to her temple, not letting her go at all.]

No maybes. He's not a good guest.

[It'd be a funny joke if it wasn't so true.]

Don't worry about it.

[At least he had time to grab his glasses. The cowlick is still there.]

[And she appreciates that, considering Eddie's chilling in a chair in front of her, puffing away on his cigar, talking shit about Dan.

She ignores him, and turns her head to look at Dan after the kiss.]

He's not.

[She manages some kind of smile, and she brushes her hand against his cowlick affectionately to fix it.]

So I shouldn't worry about the mess, either?

[Dan figures that imaginary/curse Eddie is preoccupied with being upset. There is an inclination to make him pissed off beyond reason by being even more comforting to Laurie. She's just that great anyway.]

Well.

[He takes a long glance around them at the room.]

We could wait til tomorrow. At least get things out of the walk ways.

[After all, it's still late.]

[You're right, the Eddie relaxing in the chair is getting more and more pissed off as Dan comforts Laurie. Why? Don't ask her, the only father she had was that goddamned Larry fellow who left when she was like, six or seven.

Laurie's trying her best to ignore the hallucination now, and she chuckles hoarsely, resting her head at the crook of his neck as she looks at the damage.

She still feels like crap though, and the Eddie in the chair isn't helping. He's saying something, cursing Dreiberg out, but Laurie ignores him.

At least the topic changed.]

I'm probably just tired. Let's go to bed, Dan.

[Hopefully the Eddie won't follow, but she knows those hopes are fruitless against the way the City's curses work.]
