I'm dangerous with a debit card :P
It's Andy's dad's 80th birthday on Sunday & we're having a family lunch on Saturday at the Kings Croft Hotel & I've had great fun sourcing table decorations, balloons & on deciding what cake to bake.
I had decided a couple of hours ago to make the Hummingbird Bakeries delicious looking carrot cake, which was very selfless of me, as I wouldn't be able to eat any. However, due to Andy's dad not being keen on carrots, I'm now making a chocolate & almond cake, which uses ground almonds & breadcrumbs (will use gf ones) instead of flour, so I'll be able to have a slice too. Not sure how to get it to rise a bit though, I did make it last year for my birthday & it was very flat. It didn't matter, as it's very rich, so a small slice at at time was enough. I want it to look good though, as it's for a special birthday.
Kate wants a Hello Kitty themed tea party & presents for her birthday in 2 weeks time. I've ordered an icing cake topper thing via eBay with Happy Birthday Kate & a Hello Kitty picture on & will probably make a vanilla sponge to put it on top of. I've also ordered plates, cups. party bags & a paper tablecloth with Hello Kitty on. She's going to have a tea party on the actual day for 2 friends, plus herself, Holly & myself. We did this last year for the first time with friends & it was fun. I'll make up a Pass the Parcel, as that's still a favourite game. She's invited her 2 best friends, so that makes 5 which is enough as our table seats 6.
She's also having a Build a Bear party for 6 (4 friends this time) followed by a Happy Meal at McDonalds on the Saturday after her birthday. My parents are coming up for that & have offered to pay for the party too, which is fab :)
I bought her a Hello Kitty duvet set in Home Bargains yesterday & Argos do cushions for £7, so will get one when they're back at school, so she has something as a surprise. She's also asked for an alarm clock & Tesco had glitter ball ones in the sale, so I ordered that, plus a few small barbie petite doll sets for the present box, as that is now empty, Holly has been to 4 parties all ready this year! She was invited to another on Kate's birthday, so we had to say no as it clashes with Kate's tea party. I haven't mastered the art of splitting myself in two just yet ...
I've wanted bunks beds for Kate & Holly's room for about 2 years to create more floor space for playing, but Andy has always been negative about them, as he didn't like the ones he had as a child. Two years later of showing him pictures & talking about it on & off, I finally got my way, so I ordered Amy bunkbeds with a trundle from Argos last night. I used some of my £100 inheritance & will also buy them a small desk or table as they can have my pc in their room, as I never use it any more, apart from every so often when I want to print something.
