Harry is the complete opposite. He will ONLY read his school books. The Peppa Pig book he read to Beth in the video I posted this week is the first time he has read something that isn't a school book
Kate became much more interested in reading non-school books herself once she discovered the rainbow fairy books. Def not recommending them, as they are awful, but the idea of finding a set of books that appealed to her kick started her off. I don't really look at the boy orientated section in the library, though I know they prefer non-fiction.
Aw, shame about the rainbow fairy books. I have already bought one for Beth when she is older - couldn't resist it: 'Bethany the Ballet Fairy'.
Harry has discovered Jack Stalwart books which he really likes, and Magic Treehouse ones (though the writing in those is AWFUL). But he only wants US to read them to him.
Rainbow fairy books are ok the first time you read one, but on book 2 (& then several dozen later) you realise that they are all the exact same story, just with a differently named fairy.
