I just re-read for the first time in several years Elizabeth Bishop's "One Art" Villanelles tend to be one of my fav type of poems because there's so much math involved in them. But... I didn't like hers. It seemed so... mild.
I expected to see something-- I don't know what I expected really. I just remember all my English teachers gushing over it as if it were the greatest thing on Earth. But reading it now I can't help but think "Oh my! This SUCKS!"
Maybe I'm on a different wavelength.
